Okay, we're all in agreement that the HLA segment was rather... tough to look at, since there were kids there. But what do you guys think of RAW, minus Jerry Lawler's whooping or any mentions of HLA? FOr me, it was certainly better than last week, especially with the surprising Spike Dudley match. HHH pulled quite a few new moves in that one. The sleeper as the finisher? Wierd, but very old school, simply because the last time I saw that was The Ringmister or the Million Dollar Man. So, that was cool for us oldheads. The main event was fun too, especially Jericho getting rid of the Big Show. I laughed really hard when Hebner caught him! Bookerdust continues to entertain me, but I'd be really entertained if he decided to finally get his belt back, since it was brought back from retirement. So, there you have it. RAW without the HLA was A-OK. Comments are welcome as always.

I agree... you take out the HLA and Lawler- and the show was quite enjoyable! Booker was great as usual, Jericho played heel like Ric Flair, circa 1987... and to quote Jesse the Body- "I gotta give credit where credit is due, Gorilla.."
Triple H played the heel very, very well. He's much better when he shows some vulnerability like he did with Bubba, then when RVD won the #1 contender match.

By the way, the last time I saw a sleeper finish- it was the Rowdy One- Roddy Piper! Talk about your classic heels!

The Rowdy Scot was always one of my favorite heels, and I loved his finisher. What a way to draw heat from the fans: rather than giving them an exciting, high-impact finisher, just suck the life right out of the face and leave him lying unconscious in a heap. Great stuff.

Also, as much as I don't love HHH, I was pretty impressed with him on Raw. He can go when he wants to, and nobody is a better heel right now. His oversell of fear and shock when RVD won the main event, though, was a bit much...

Its amazing how she still puts over Triple H in every post. j/k

Triple H had his best match in a while on Monday. Even if it was with Spike Dudley.

And I liked how he looked scared after RVD won the #1 Contenders Match. He knew he could beat Jericho, Jeff and Show but he has faced RVD and he was scared when he won.

The problem is that the HLA was not just one segment. Most people were complaining about Lawler reminding us on EVERY segment about the HLA. This obviously hurt some peoples' perception of the show as a whole.

I agree with the Mistress though, as the show was pretty good. The crowd was awesome once again.

Finally, I hate to say this in a thread started by the resident HHH sympathizer, but that "scared" look by HHH looked so forced and didn't feel at all believable because heel HHH is not supposed to be worried about anything. It felt wrong, because HHH wasn't that worried when he had to face Cactus Jack for the first time. Now because he has to face RVD, he is now super worried? To quote Austin, "EH EH."

I could be wrong, but didn't Triple H get just as scared or more-so when Foley 'first' turned into Cactus Jack, and then finally ran away from the ring when he entered (and started beating the "Fake" Mankind?)

I also agree that the HLA wasn't just one segment. Lawler made sure that it was the theme of the show. You can't ignore it and say that a match you liked made up for it. That's like saying that the theme of a book was absolutely horrible, but you still think the book was great because of chapter 3.

I have to agree with Torchslasher. Lawler reminded us about HLA every single match or skit. Check out CRZ's HLA and hot lesbian action count. It's got to be in the hundreds at least.
But Raw wasn't bad. Angles were moved along and the wrestling was pretty good.

It was a very good Raw otherwise, when muted. But come on. A fatal 4-way elimination, which is a great tradition of Raw, gets a "Who cares??? HOT LESBIAN ACTION!!" reaction from a normally ace color commentator, and it was supposed to be written in? Um, I think the writers on Raw have a huge problem with priorities.

Vince, you are not going to turn your woes around by trying to be more gross than Fear Factor, more laviscious than Springer, or making lame attempts at being Def Comedy Jam. You turn it around by great wrestling matchmaking, execution of those matches, and solid promos that seek drama, humor and pathos, not vomit and bile, from the audience.

Heh...Triple H faced Cactus Jack a few years before that in the MSG on Raw I believe
In a Titantron promo, Dude Love telling Mankind they need to get that other cat out to deal with HHH..Cactus appears on screen and Triple H goes nuts.

The match ended with a piledriver through a table on the ramp. Great match.

Knowing that piece of history, the return of Cactus for the MSG2000 match was so fucking awesome, and HHH sold it like a mofo. He shit his pants the first moments.

Actually, I think RAW was a great show if you only take out Lawler. I found the HLA segment to be really funny, not really slutty, if you take my drift. That is to say, if you concentrated on what Bichoff was doing and not the lesbians (it was hard, but I had it on tape), it was incredibly funny, like someone trying really hard to improve a really bad porno. Ah well.

On the other hand, if you took HLA out, RAW turned out to be quite a show, and the best monday night I've spent in weeks (if you ignore the f'n MNF).

For those who think that HHH's scared looks were a little forced, I happen to agree with you guys. But, I was still stoked for the RVD match at Unforgiven.

I think some other people have mentioned this but I'll rehash anyway.

HHH looks like he's losing some mass ... and that's a good thing. He's getting closer to the sleek, mobile bad ass we used to know.

Or, maybe it's just the clean shave.
