I dont think shes all that fine. I understand that a chick being famous raises her hotness quotient above what it normally would be (Britney Spears comes to mind) but shes nothiong special to me. Anways, I was watching Crossfire today (premis: two guys bitch at eachother.) And on the show they invited two women to debate the whole Anna topic. And while I think most feminists are a little crackers form time to time, this one hit the nail on the head about Anna being nothing but a poster girl. Is that a bad thing? I'm not here to debate that.
The thing that annoyed the hell out of me is that the women defending Anna seemed to have no clue about women athletics. Her main defense was pretty much summarized in her statement that "Any bunch of boys in Highschool could beat a WNBA/professional women's team." Now while I agree that the top of the line male athlete has advantages over the top of the line women athlete...that statement is total and complete crap!
While the WNBA is boring and what not, it's a definate that most high school kids out there couldn't hang with a Lisa Leslie. And in Tennis it's even more ludacris an argument. We've had guys at my college who have played with the likes of Martina Navatilova (I'll take sp? for 100 Bob!) and when someone tried to pull this statement out he laughed his ass off.
I don't mind people defending the overuse of Anna by saying "She sells tickets." It worked for Hogan! But don't come out and talk about things you have no clue about! Geeze!!

What's amazing is that she is still ranked 38th in the world. There is something truly wrong with the way the women's rankings work. (There have been women who have won tournaments drop in the rankings, with players they've beat jumping ahead of them!)
As far as her looks go, she definately fine enough to be a poster girl in my book. As far as the media obsession, it's not just the media. From what I understand, her match was the only one playing in front of a full house (with people turned away) at the U.S. Open Monday. There is a demand. | A-MOL

As for her ranking, in her defense she DID work hard to qualify for those tournaments, and yes she does suck, but if you look at the finals of all the tourney's it's the same four people anyways, so of course she's 38th. It's not like every tourney she's been in Macenroe doesn't go on his tirade's hating on her anyways.
The girl sucks, but does that stop any of these "girls that can sing" from being on mtv every single minute of every single show. Does that stop any of those soap actor's from taking a job that pays way too much for way too little work? In summation, our society's fucked and we're going to hell in a handbag. All we care about are looks, money and various other things that in the scheme of things don't really matter (even if you become a billionaire you're still going to die, unless you have the money to make robots!).
