| #1 Posted on 23.8.02 1248.40 Reposted on: 23.8.09 1256.04 | If the season ended today(and since it actually could next week) who do you think would go into the playoffs as the strongest team with the best shot of winning the World Series. The current matchups would be:
ALDS New York(E) vs Seattle(WC) Oakland(W) vs Minnesota(C)
NLDS Atlanta(E) vs Los Angeles(WC) Arizona(W) vs St. Louis(C)
The irony is that the team playing the best ball now(Anaheim) would miss out.
Just looking at it, I would probably lean towards either St. Louis or Atlatna playing Oakland...
EDIT: I decided maybe St. Louis should stay in the (C) not the (E)

In the LCS' I think the Yankees and Braves both win in seven over their respective opponents, and we have ANOTHER Yankees-Braves series. Oh joy. | Tom Dean

I just think the Braves rotation is deeper than the D-Backs, its nothing personal against them. Believe me, the last thing I want to see is the Braves in a Series. | TheCow

Maybe they can luck out and somehow get past the D-backs.. and if they do, they'll be fine. However, to pull that off would require nothing short of a miracle. | PeterStork

| #8 Posted on 25.8.02 0117.37 Reposted on: 25.8.09 0129.02 | The D-Backs are overrated; their offense is good, but doesn't match up with Atlanta or St. Louis. The pitching...it's Johnson and Schilling. The Braves can match, and beat, that with Glavine and Maddux, not to mention Millwood and his shrink. And Atlanta's bullpen beats out Zona's. Cards rotation come the playoffs: Morris, Williams, Finley. Stephenson, Benes and Simontachhi in long relief. SCARY. That, plus a decent bullpen (though not the caliber of the other two.) Really, it's anyone's ballgame in the NL. I'd go with the Birds just for wishful thinking, but no one really has the advantage. If I was forced by a powerful deity to bet my life, I guess I'd go with the Braves. The Wild Card, by the way, is toast.
The AL just got screwed up by the wonderful race in the West; either the winner will have so much momentum they'll sweep through the playoffs, or they'll be so beat up they'll be chicken feed for the Twins. I think the former. The Yanks over the Wild Card, then the winner of the West...let's say, um, Oakland, to the Series. | Bullitt

I dunno...Johnson and Schilling, two starts each, means, most likely, four wins, and therefore the series... | SerWolfe

But they are matched up pretty well with Maddux and Glavine, not to metion Moss, Marquis, and Milwood are probably better than Batista, Anderson, and Helling. | Freeway
