For anyone interested, TBS is playing the only Michael Douglas movie ever made that's bearable for reasons other than his female counterparts. For those on the left coast, might want to check the TV guide around 8 pm. Should be on then, I suspect. Sean Penn's role is tiny, but he tears it up when he's there to watch. | Promote this thread! | | Jaguar

I will agree though, The Game is one rockin' movie.

I've never seen "Wonder Boys," and I've only seen bits and pieces of "Romancing" and "Jewel." But, as far as his opinions on "Falling Down" and "The American President"?
Word.
SlightlyOffTopic - is it just me, or should Michael Douglas' "promo" in the final press conference in the last ten minutes of "American President" be required viewing for every aspiring wrestler/manager/commentator/interviewer/valet? I mean, like, viewing it multiple times? Because it's just that damn good?
Edit: changed "movie" to "American President" in the last paragraph.

| #7 Posted on 23.8.02 1446.19 Reposted on: 23.8.09 1448.44 | Romancing and Jewel are two terrible terrible movies. Just damned awful. Falling Down was a good idea, but Douglas ANNOYED THE SHIT OUT OF ME. And that haircut did nothing but make me think of my late grandfather, so I could *never* take him seriously as a violent person. Fatal Attraction, Basic Instinct, Traffic...Douglas is irritating in all of them, except that they have Catherine Zeta Jones or Sharon Stone or, on the acting side, Glenn Close to drag him to watchability. Wall Street, Wonder Boys, American President I've never watched because he's ANNOYING. Maybe I like The Game because he plays the same upper middle/upper class asshole he always plays, but this time all these horrid things happen to him for absolutely no good reason. That, and Sean Penn smokes him like a cheap cigar. I'd rather his old man had played all those roles; at least his mugging for the camera would have been funny.

That's arguably one of the top 20 movies of all time where he played a very complex, half-likable character. He wasn't supposed to be *just* a violent character. And then to not at least SEE **WONDER BOYS**, one of the best movies about writing ever made (outside of Throw Mama From the Train, of course), based on that, is pretty sad.
