BTW, Cartoon Network is now showing the original GI Joe cartoon at 1:00 am.

I liked the new version, but I have to agree with the above statement ... It's like all the characters suddenly graduated from the "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" school of fighting.
And I was sorry to see that the kick-ass theme song did not make the transition; you know the one I'm talking about, the "da da da DAH da" theme that always played right after Adam transformed into He-Man ...
But I do like the fact that Adam starts off as a 16-year-old kid; now all the Eternians don't come off as near-sighted idiots for not noticing the striking similarities between the two (the "Lois Lane Syndrome) ... Seriously, the only thing protecting He-Man's secret identity was a deep tan and a lack of purple tights. Gimme a break.

| #25 Posted on 19.8.02 1551.01 Reposted on: 19.8.09 1559.01 | I think my favorite things about the old school He-Man cartoon were:
The part in the Big Dramatic Theme Music where it'd slow down, and right before it would whoever was singing it'd go "He-Maaaaaan" all smooth and whatnot. You could practically hear someone in the studio telling them "okay, let's get a little funky with it..." It was so completely out of the blue and pointless and silly.
And I couldn't get enough of He-Man's obessive need to roll around on the ground. Every single episode, he'd find some excuse to roll around (if you've seen any of the shows, you'll know what I mean... they re-used the same animation every time!) and probably get dirt stuck to his body oil or whatever. I think they were trying to impress people with his agility or something, but all it looked like to me was He-Man got a kick out of getting dirty. | Oliver

Does this version of HE MAN have the same storyline as the original tv series? Is He-Man still a buff version of Prince Adam?

Leech is definitely the ``sucker-face guy,'' but I somehow crossed him up with a red guy with a really wide head and short antennae (I think). No, wait, there were no antennae...big ears perhaps? And blue trunks, I think. Any guesses on who _that_ might be? It strikes me he was kind of intimidating-looking, but had a really wimpy voice on the cartoon.

That would be Jitsu, I believe.
I was a little too old at the time, but my little bro was into He-Man big time. One Christmas, which was He-Man's first Christmas, he got every single He-Man figure and toy except one -- Mer-Man.
My favorite He-Man figure was Meka-Neck (sp?)
My dog's favorite He-Man figure was Grizzlor.

But the best of them all....was the guy in charge of the Hoard (sp?). What was his name?
I did have a soft spot for the She-Ra show, though. That was fun at times.
Ah, the memories. I'll have to hit the local mom-and-pop video store near my girlfriend's place to rent the videos there...

| #36 Posted on 26.8.02 0617.46 Reposted on: 26.8.09 0629.02 | I have to know when that 90 minute movie is airing again. Is it going to become a series? Tell me more.
I saw the new figures just this weekend(not a big fan of them). I have almost all the old figures, castles, and battle mobiles stored away in rubbermaid in my mom's basement.(The guy with the zip line was always my favorite to play with-Lockjaw I believe). I'd hook him up from tree to tree. HBK stole his gimmick(WM 12).
Last year I was at Benny's(old school version of Walmart) and I saw that they reissued all the old He-Man figures. They were exactly the same except for the year printed on them.
Benny's is also where I bought a lot of the old school huge WWF figures(I wish I still had those). I did find Hogan and the British Bulldogs at a used comic book store a few years ago.
He-Man,Transformers,and WWF. I watched nothing else as a child. And I still watch WWF and am writing a post about freakin' He-Man. What a Geek.
Have to ask about Transformers now: Where's their new show and when's it on? I saw Beast Wars a few years ago and it was okay(on Cartoon Network Toonami). Haven't heard anything on the Transformers front except their DVD offerings.
BTW:Around the time I was in Junior High(well over 10 years ago), they came out with a bastardized version of the He-Man cartoon. He was all gay and wimpy looking(they dropped his gimmick and made him too human). Anyhoo, it sucked major balls and I was convinced that it had tainted He-Man's legacy and I never watched it again. What the hell was the deal with that crappy version? | Alessandro

One animation that always puzzled me was He-man swimming under water; he always swam freestyle, which just doesn't work under water. Learn the breast stroke already!
Know what really made He-man cool? His mom was an American Astronaut and his dad looked like the Burger King of the day. | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
