CRZ (or anyone else), do YOU know what Don's SS T-shirt is "really" supposed to be? You sound like you do, in your recap...all I know is it's pretty disturbing. I also noted that he's got a matching SS tattoo on his right arm. I dunno, I assumed it was some sort of biker gang thing. What's the deal?

Both Harris brothers used to have SS tattoos, which they eventually got "tattooed over" by getting designs that obscured/obfuscated them.

I wouldn't care to speculate.

Roger is right about the tattoo bit - the controversy THEY spawned was a super big deal back in the day on rec.sport.pro-wrestling. The only alternative explanation I heard at the time was "umm, no, they're lightning bolts!" and general opinion was that that didn't seem to hold water. When they got them "covered," the outcry died down. Incidentally, each twin has the tattoo on a different arm, which was how I always told them apart in Nitro recaps before Don gained the extra twenty pounds.
He is DEAN

One also has really weird nipples after plastic surgery went horribly wrong. That's possibly my favorite wrestling related story ever.

Its less of a weird nipple and more of a "where is his nipple? Where did it float off to?"
Currently both Harris' sport completely different looks which kind of ruins the identical twin gimmick. Ron (the better of the two Harris' ) is in legal trouble (I think), so you only get to see Don lately.
I think the SS thing is biker related, much like Jesco White with the swastika.
Nonetheless my favorite thing to come out of this is from wrestlingclassics:
"And just for the record, there were plenty of guys in the SS who DIDN'T gas people...."
uh..When exactly did we become so sensitive that we can no longer "stereotype" all the SS as evil? When did that happen? "Oh but they're not all bad people"

Um, weren't the SS Nazi soldiers who did the "Thought Police"-style activity?
Of course, it COULD just be the Super Metroid logo. But with two, because they are twins!

Apparently NWA-TNA has received enough heat over Don Harris's "SS" tank top that they've issued a public apology on their web site. At least, I presume it's Harris's shirt they're apologizing for, since they don't specifically say in the message what the "offensive symbol" was or who was wearing it. Anyway, if you Click Here you can see the apology in full.
BTW, CRZ, great job, as usual. I see the Tennessee State Fairgrounds has gone from being "The TNA Shed" to "the Barn in Nashville." Is that a step up or a step down? So you still haven't figured out how Don Harris got cut open last week? Kinda reminds me of when I used to watch Vito Antuofermo, a middleweight boxer from about twenty years ago. I swear I saw Vito in matches where cuts would open up on his face before his opponent would land a single punch. It seemed like just having his hands taped prior to a match would make his face start bleeding! Anyway, IMHO your entire recap was laugh-out-loud funny, proving yet again that a terrible show in the hands of a good reviewer is a comedic goldmine. My own personal highlight was the way you described the show's opening segment, culminating in Brian Lawler's inability to wrest a chair away from a fan. Kudos to you for having the fortitude to continue watching and recapping this crap!
Finally, for those who may be wondering, yes, there really is a "White Trash Cafe" in Nashville; if you Click Here you can read a brief description of the restaurant from Netscape's digital cities.

It's long gone, of course, but the Web Archive still has it here (web.archive.org) - and here's a cut-'n'-paste:

MESSAGE TO OUR FANS
On the August 14 episode of NWA-TNA: Total Nonstop Action one of our performers wore a shirt to the ring that had an offensive symbol that prompted many of our fans to email us.
We were not aware of the incident until we received the response from our fans, and we agree with those who say the shirt was offensive. We do not in any way condone such things and have taken steps to make sure something like that doesn't happen again.
We apologize to those who were rightfully offended.

After reading the review, I just had a couple of concerns--
IF the NWA is still managing to grow an audience, how much good can an incident like this Don Harris gaffe possibly do? It's almost inconceivable to me as to how that could possibly get overlooked. So what if it IS just a biker gang thing? Why risk the controversy?
I mean, it's bad enough that the new NWA Champion has to resort to passe race card nonsense and trying to bury anyone and anything WWE-related AGAIN to try to garner heel heat. Is this the way to build a promotion?
And with all the other nonsensical shenanigans that happened this week, is THIS supposed to be Total Non-Stop Action?
Oh, and of course, major props to CRZ for providing another great review. I'm not sure how you can deal with the pain, but I know we all appreciate the hard work!

Maybe, with the popularity of Inglorious Basterds, the Harris Brothers could come back with Aldo the Apache carvings.
