| #24 Posted on 14.8.02 0723.02 Reposted on: 14.8.09 0725.33 | Well, you don't seriously think that he's going to be a heel ALL the time on SD, now, do you? Or Benoit/Eddy/Angle? He turns, or they turn, let them feud, he might actually learn a few things. I figure it can't hurt all that much. Besides, isn't he the better all-around Hardy (when motivated, which this should do)?
I'm not so much concerned w/ who is heel or face as I am with the fact that Matt Hardy would be so outclassed by Benoit/Angle/Eddy.
Those 3 guys are all main-event or upper mid-card guys, and I just don't buy Matt in that role unless he improves 200%, which I highly doubt he can do.
And in a business where it's a damn good thing to be an excellent performer, and to have several of them to utilize, why couldn't Matt Hardy ascend to the level of the Benoit's and Guerrero's?
I feel confident in predicting that Matt will *never* reach that level. | BigDaddyLoco

I think that is a HUGE overstatement, I do. It definitely wasn't what the crowd wanted, and so they may have booed, but horrible?! Come on. It was definitely *not* horrible.
I have to disagree. I was in the arena, and it was shitty. I'm thinking that it came off better on TV with the commentary and stuff. But at the SD Sports Arena- that match stunk up the joint... I think I was expecting more from their fued and that match in particular. I was saying "Sure, they're mic skills suck- but this match will showcase their talent in the ring." Oh well, at least we got to see Jericho beat Austin and Rock! | mountinman44

I'm right there with you... it was a horrible match... right up there with the Taker/Bossman cage match at WM a couple of years ago.

He's always being placed in the shadow of his daredevil brother and because he has to live up to this 'extreme' stuff, he's categorized as being an average wrestler.
His mic skills aren't that great, but neither are RVD's or Benoit's or the Big Show's for that matter. I think the heel turn was awesome and when it happened, I thought.. 'It's about time they do this right.'
As far as him not being on the same level as Benoit or Guerrero... I'd reference you over to the singles matches Matt had against both of them. On Smackdown that aired 8.6.0, Matt had a match with Eddie that was so awesome, even CRZ said so... So now! Then on 12.6.0, Matt met Benoit to challenge for the Intercontinental Title. Again, another f*cking awesome match.
You guys should check these matches out before you down the dude and his before singles career really kicks off. No one thought HHH would be where he is now. Hell, who thought Rocky Maivia would go anywhere? Proper booking, writing, AND in-ring work gets you there. Don't put the guy down BEFORE he starts. sheesh!

No offense.
In that thought, do you think John Cena should be anywhere near Jericho, or Angle? Cena's put on some seriously awesome matches with both of them!
In my opinion, if the WWE can put two incredible talents together for a good match, they should go for it. If Matt can give the fans what they want in a match against Benoit, I say, GO FOR IT. While I can't really see those two entering a storyline yet (unless Hardy joins the "Future of Smackdown" thing), I think he could have some good matches against Chavo Guerrero.
MY REGRETS ABOUT THE SPLIT OF THE TWO:
We won't see The Hardyz vs. The Guerreros anytime soon. Could Team Xtreme beat the innovators of "Cheat To Win"?
They should have waited one week for the jump. Have Matt and Jeff have a showdown the next week on RAW and see what happens.

Yes, but as you stated, the match was against his brother. They've had better matches against each other before. That one just sucked. On all accounts, Matt's the better wrestler of the two because he's more technical of the two. Jeff just flies and takes crazy bumps.
You can look at old matches they had in December of 1999, when they were friends with Edge & Christian and DX w/ Stephanie was making the two tag teams fight each other, but with different variations of pairing. Matt and Jeff fought each other, which resulted in him taking home a broken nose. Before his nose got broken, they had a pretty decent match going. I just think the match at Vengeance sucked because Lita was involved AND the fans expected less mat work and more high-flying.
Anyway, I still go back to him deserving a chance to get better, gain experience w/o Jeff, and hopefully getting people to appreciate him more.

The fact is that Matt Hardy DOES have a lot of talent, and is widley considered to be a model "WWE employee." Do you think that is because he is just plain terrible? I applauded the Hardyz effert to break out of the high-spot mode the crowd forced on them. The match WAS good. They both went out and worked hard and put on a hell of a match. Anyone who thinks otherwise were not watching the match, rather watching for the part where JEff kills himself. When it never came, you got pissed. Break up the Hardyz. Yeah! As much as I would have liked to see a heel Hardyz run, I would rather let Matt go off on his own and break out of the mold that the crowd made for him, so he CAN grow as a performer. I'll bet within 2 years, Matt WILL be approaching Main Event status, if not sooner. I will even go so far as to say that he has a legitimate shot at King of the Ring next year.... | Net Hack Slasher

| #38 Posted on 16.8.02 1407.48 Reposted on: 16.8.09 1416.16 | The only positive thing in seeing lame maTT Hardy with guys like Benoit, Angle or Eddie is whenever he does his stupid finger pointing thing one of the 3 guys slap him across the head and tell him to "stop doing that, it makes us look bad"
Watching Smackdown and and seeing maTT come down with the Xtreme zombies squealing. I truly wonder if their hardcore Xtreme zombies will allow any Hardy to be anything more then the finger pointing "aruahhhh" yelling, one dimensional characters. That could be a reason why Xtreme split take 1 failed so badly
I mean they *do* know that 24 hours ago Matt screwed over his brother. Or is it that they don't care. I swear a Hardy could screw over a face heck smash Lita if the skull with a pipe and the very next week that same Hardy boy will come down to a squeal pop like nothing happened.
