Anyone have any idea where he may go. There was a lot of talk about the Knicks, but with them signing Doleac, it seems that may not happen. Also mentioned was Orlando, but they don't have the cap space any more than the Raptors...
Perhaps the Raptors might get another shot if no one offers Keon what he wants.

Instead it looks like we are stuck with old man Olajuwon. And his slow 20 minutes and 6 points a game. I still didn't get how the T.O media was gushing all over this guy when the Raps signed him. I'm not even a Basketball smark but all I saw was a guy pushing 40 hard and hasn't had an outstanding season since the mid 90s

Well according to this, the Kings are over the salary cap. If they want Clark, they'll have to use the $4.5 million mid-level exception and hope he turns down a higher offer to join a championship level team. Plus they still have to re-sign Mike Bibby, which I hear talks aren't going too well with since Bibby is reportedly not being offered anything near the maximum. | ekedolphin

| #8 Posted on 13.8.02 0229.58 Reposted on: 13.8.09 0238.05 | It looks to me as if Keon Clark would be an outstanding fit for the Kings. If they use the mid-level exception on him, well, he'd “only” be making $4.5 million a year (don't even get me started about the crap athletes do to get higher and higher salaries), but the Kings might very well be pushed over the top in their quest for the NBA Championship.
Of course, you know the Lakers aren't going to sit around during the offseason, either-- they didn't the previous two years. Look for them to make some kind of move that will have us once again screaming about other teams being in the Lakers' back pocket.
Anyway... about Bibby.
Why the hell wouldn't the Kings pay him the maximum? They can pay him that, can't they? With the Larry Bird exception and all. Or are there luxury tax implications involved here? It's my understanding that teams can re-sign their players for any amount without worrying about the salary cap, so what's holding the Kings back from doing so with Bibby?
Not that I think he's necessarily worth it, but it doesn't make sense to me that the Kings might be risking losing their starting point guard.

I think that teams are right to give the max contract only to franchise players. Whether Bibby is at that level is debatable, so I can see why they are wondering whether to do it or not. Personally, I think he is young enough that it will probably be okay, but I'm not the one putting up the money either. | JayJayDean
