Time for the annual mass "future eneavorings", I guess.

Per their own Twitter accounts, both Derrick Bateman and Briley Pierce (Dolph Ziggler's younger brother) have been released.

More to come, most likely.

EDIT: Dammit, I put 2012 instead of 2013. Can someone fix it? Thanks.

NXT's Audrey Marie and Sakamoto (former manager of Tensai) also released.

You'd think being the current World Heavyweight Champion's younger brother would afford you some extra time in the company, but it looks like he got Eric Angle'd.

Derrick Bateman Nooooo!! Fuck this company, it does NOT care about Chicks n' America!

Pierce and Sakamoto JUST started a "wacky partners" angle at the last NXT tapings.

Also known as "ROH and TNA Mystery Partner Summer Sale."

Still holding out hope JTG can get a decent shot as a singles guy.

If they weren't going to give Derrick Bateman a shot (the guy's been in NXT hell for how many years?), then the best thing they could do for him is let him go and allow him a chance to find success elsewhere. Same for Percy Watson, even if I really did like him.

Outside guesses for the next cuts? Well, we haven't seen Ezekiel Jackson in over a year, so I'd have to imagine he's next.

I'm disappointed by the releases of Percy Watson and Derrick Bateman. I liked both of them from what I'd seen.

I'm wondering if they're decreasing the roster some due to the brand split ending. With the big stars on both shows, they don't need as much undercard talent anymore.

On the contrary. They're snapping up indie guys left and right. (Sami Calihan and CWF Hollywood's Shaun Ricker are recent rumored signings.) They're expected to add even more with the new performance center opening. I guess they're just making room in developmental by jettisoning people they just have no plans for.

Side note, if you have Hulu Plus and you're not watching NXT, you're missing one of WWE's best weekly shows.

Gotta say I'm kind of bummed Bateman and Pierce got let go but if a couple Divas had to be let go those two would have been my choices too.

The way that the WWE is treating the Cesaro's, Barrett's, Sandow's and Cody Rhodes types, not coming up through the WWE ranks not coming up through the ranks and dealing with 50/50 booking, secondary title damage and stupid gimmick tweaks everytime you start to get over might be the best thing for a young wrestler. The problem is there isn't a secondary company that makes the WWE pay for treating their young up and comers so poorly.

I think it's easy for us, as fans, to forget that being a wrestler is a job just like anything else. Just from the talent's perspective, I can't imagine anyone feeling 'better off' for losing a job in the best paying, most important company in their industry. Yeah, you might get a better push/more attention in the smaller pond, but that's not gonna help much when you start missing car payments. And success in other feds doesn't translate into getting pushed in WWE. Tensai got let go, became gigantic elsewhere...and then came back to be the less over half of a comedy tag team. And, while I'm sure it hurts his pride and he expectd to be so much more, I don't see him asking for his release.

I know guys do quit for pride reasons (Low Ki) or to develop further elsewhere (Morrison, MVP). And I'm sure it's good to tell yourself that you're better off in the long run (and some, who knows, really will be). But, for the moment, they just have my sympathy and I hope to see (some of them) in TNA/ROH.

But not Percy Watson. I fucking hate Percy Watson.
