Both American and United have announced that they will be flying reduced schedules on 9/11 and the airline industry as a whole is reporting that with 6 weeks to go that bookings for that date are off significantly. I know that if work requires I travel by air that day I would but 9/11 would not be my first choice for a travel date.

I would treat it like any other day. If I needed to fly that day, I would. I wouldn't want to live if I were to live in fear of a tremote chance of being hurt.

There are two logic paths for 9/11.
1-- The terrorists will strike again and its not safe to fly
2-- Our government realizes they may strike again on the same day (Bin Laden's interpreter just said they would) and would have TONS of extra security, plus they probably wouldn't try the same attack twice, so its even safer to fly on 9/11.
I personally am wary about the day, but I probably would fly.... I'd still feel a little nervous about flying into MAJOR hubs though (Atlanta, NY, etc.)

No way in hell I fly on that day, unless it was absolutely necessary. Yes, I realize that I have a better chance of finding a million dollars worth of pennies on the side of the road on the way to the airport than being involved in a terrorist attack on the flight. Yes, I realize that this is what the terrorists want, for the U.S. citizens to live in fear. And yes, i know there is a 99.99999999% chance that nothing will happen.

But still, no way.

I can't fly...I don't have wings or the power to defy gravity. I'm impressed that most of you do. Oh--in a plane?

Sure I'd fly. When we let fear of the terrorists change how we live our lives, they win. I don't count our increased security measures, because I for one supported such things before the attacks.

Of course I would. If they strike again, it won't be by air anyway.

I wouldn't fly that day, no way, no how. as someone who already had a pre-existing hatred/fear of flying, 9/11 made things a lot worse.
A good friend of mine in Long Beach, CA is having her 21st birthday in a couple weeks. I'd love to go out and see her, but no way can i fly even now. I live in New Jersey and would be flying out of Newark. And it was 2 of the 4 planes on 9/11 that were Newark to L.A.? Like you say RockyRulez, the chances of another attack are so slim, but I won't be seeing a plane in a long time, unless i have to fly because i'm getting a new job in another city. maybe the terrorists have beaten me, i dunno.

So noone wants to go with me to Palestine with a stopover in Afghanistan. We'll leave the morning of 09/11 from Boston.....bunch of chickensh*ts.....If you have changed your life out of fear what is the use in living.....hell I may spend my whole day in Crawford, TX near the ranch...seems like a likely target since Ft. Hood is so close.

Well I was thinking that, yeah I would fly 9/11. It's probably the least likely day for anything to happen. But there is another way to look at this. It will also be the day when false calls and pranks will have the most effect. Officials will probably take every threat on 9/11 very seriously, and I wouldn't be surprised that there are a LOT of threats called in on 9/11. With all the delays and airport evacuations as a result, 9/11 could be a awful day to actually get anywhere. So considering that, I would probably take a pass and try to find a different date.

Fuzzy you are right. The only reason that Sep 11 worked as well as it did is that it was new and different. From now on I don't think it's possible for a terrorist to hijack a plane ever again. All 4 planes thought they were in a standard hijacking scenario. You know go to Cuba to refuel, go to Lybia, and end up in Lebannon for 6 weeks like happened 15 years ago. Definitely not something you want to happen but totaly different that what occured.
Look what happened when that mentally deranged guy tried to force his way into a cockpit. 5 or 6 guys got up and kicked his ass. Same thing with that dumbass shoe bomber. Unless there is an extremely large percentage of terrosist at least 20% I can't imagine how it's possible unless the security totaly fucks up and lets them on with guns. No one is going to think that they are most likely going to live so keep quiet and hope for the best. Passengers will fight in order to save their lives and the lives of others. Terrorists still can shoot a plane down or blow it up but I doubt one will ever be able to hijack a plane

The last person I would want to be on 9/11:

An Arab-American man travelling with two or three other Arab-American men on a half-full cross-country flight.

Because people are *that* stupid and paranoid.

Please explain how the other passengers are stupid and paranoid if they are suspicious of individuals who look like the people who want to kill us, and are in the right place to do so.

If they just got up and beat them, that would be paranoid. If they keep an eye on them for the duration of the flight, that's vigilence.

Well, there's not much for ducks to really think about...

"Thanks for throwing this tasty bread old lady"
"Well, time to fly south."
"Quack."

Anyway, if there's a date I wouldn't fly, it would be the day before. These terrorists have already proven they aren't stupid, so they won't strike on the most obviously day ever.

RACISM!!!

(Edit) I find it... weird how people, for the most part, beleive that retaliation agaisnt them is the awnser to solve all the problems. If you kill them, they can't bother you anymore, huh? ... Talk about a re-inactment of Vietnam... just instead the 'States might win this time... and that will be a sad day...

Hell, yeah, I'd fly on 9/11. You can't let those Al-Qaeda bastards scare you. There's no way they'd be able to pull off the same stunt again anyway. If they strike again, it would be insane to try the same trick twice, unless they're ignorant of even rudimentary guerilla tactics. I'm sure they have all kinds of cowardly, underhanded ways to kill civilians planned out. The shits.

i make it a habit not to fly period. It's not like if you have engine trouble, you can pull over, like in a car.

Roads and Trains are for me [but 3 miles down the road the amtrack train derailed...]

You should probably stick to Canadian history if you really think the Vietnam War was about retaliation against the Viatnamese people b\c they were "bothering" America. The Vietnam War had absolutely nothing to do with the Vietnamese people or its culture. It was a political war.
