| #1 Posted on 29.7.02 1126.38 Reposted on: 29.7.09 1129.04 | Last night's game was amazing. It ended with a 3-run Renteria homer in the ninth inning. Yesterday, of course, was the same day legendary Cardinal Shortstop Ozzie Smith was inducted into the hall of fame -- prompting ESPN broadcaster John Miller to yell "Go crazy, folks, go crazy" when Renteria smacked it.
This mirrored Jack Buck's famous call of a Smith 3-run homerun that won game five of the 1985 NLCS playoffs. Said Smith homerun and Buck's call just happens to be my favorite cardinal memory. And Miller provided a fitting tribute. Just thought I'd share. Anyone else see the game? | Promote this thread! | | AWArulz

Yes. I am never watching baseball again. I detest all that the Cubs stand for.
They can't lose today, anyway. God, I HATE being a Cubs fan. | odessasteps

There is something cool about a team winning on a day when one of their HOF players gets inducted. | TheBucsFan

Smith's shot was a solo homerun, and yes the game was awesome. I kept wanting to turn it off, but told myself "No, they can comeback, they can do it," and sure enough, they did. | Papercuts!

Ah! You got me! That's what was nagging me when I typed the whole thing out. Grrr. My parents would be ashamed of me, as I was born and raised in St. Louis and I still consider it home. :) | spf

The 1st was messing up the double-switch where he had to pull Sosa (although I cut him slack for that one). But pulling Clement in the 6th after 82 pitches? The honeymoon may be over already... | | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
