Just curious about one thing. How does one name moves that are from the inside of the ring to the outside of the ring?

I am under the impressions:

a) Using the ropes as a slingshot in any move is called a "(prefix) pescado"
b) Running and diving over the ropes is called a "(prefix) tope"
c) Going to the top turnbuckle and diving to the outside is called a "(prefix) plancha"
d) Running and going through the space between the top and the middle ropes is called a "(prefix) suicida".

I use (prefix) to show that there is sometimes a word added before the move, like "somersault" and so forth.

I have gained this "knowledge" merely by heresay, rumors and "contacts". What is the correct way for naming moves that go from the inside of the ring to the outside of the ring?

Thanks for your help.

To the best of my recollection, a tope is a headfirst dive. Not sure what the distinction between a regular tope and one of the suicida persuasion is, though. I always thought the "plain" tope was between the ropes, and the suicida was over the top, or off the top rope...

I think a plancha would be equivalent to a splash... basically, using the body as the point of impact.

But, I could be extremely wrong. (:

A cross-body style dive is a plancha. A head-first dive is a tope. Pescado is nothing more than a slingshot plancha, and 'suicida' is only used after 'tope', to denote going between the 2nd and third ropes. It gets hairier when you start trying to split hairs between corkscrew planchas and tornado mortals.

I was under the impression they were called "What a manuever!" or "My God! He's broken in half!" Hell they sound better and are easier to remember.

Thanks for the info. Until now, I had no idea what a "pescado" was.

And don't tell me it's Spanish for "fish" because I ALREADY KNOW!

The moonsault from the ring apron/ropes onto the floor is the Asai Moonsault.

don't forget the Space Flying Tiger Drop~~~~~~~~~~~~~~!

[Start w/ a Cartwheele then backflip across from one side of the ring to the other, leaping over the top rope, but hanging on to do an asai moonsault to the floor, right? i've seen 2 variations of this move on the Saturn version of Fire pro wrestling 6 man scramble]

For the Space Flying Tiger Drop, there is no contact with the ropes. You go from the cartwheel into the backwards flip from inside the ring to the floor... no ropes.

The guy who invented it was what, 5'6"? heh

Speaking of Fire Pro Wrestling, anyone else that they're thinking of making one for the whatever-generation consoles (namely the PS2 and it's predecesor's)?

LoL..and in case the move was being performed on Nitro/Thunder it was called..
'Folks right after this we will have Hollywood Hogan speak!'
or
'Oh my! We go to the commercials now but the tapes will be rolling in case something interesting happens!'
and perhaps the best of them all..
'Folks, stay tuned for hour number two when we will have Nitro Late Night (or whatever that shit was called)

In honor of the His Awesomeness, Ultimo Dragon. You've GOTTA be good to get a move named after you.

It was, what... the quebrada before they started calling it that, wasn't it?

LOL!
Actually, they're all just "high-risk maneuvers". (Trying to powerbomb Kidman...now THAT's a high-risk maneuver.)

I think the La Quebrada is actually what is the modern day lionsault? Although, I am probably terribly, terribly wrong.

Quebrada & Asai moonsault are one and the same, whether you're referring to it being to the outside or onto someone in the ring. Some people use quebrada to denote the inside version and Asai for the dive proper. But they're the same.

I'm gonna catch all hell for this, but for the record I really dislike the Space Flying Tiger Droppings or whatever it's called. Talk about all kinds of wasted energy for no reason at all. JMHO

All I can think while I see that move is, "Crap, why are you doing all that flipping, just do a tope for cryin' out loud! If you *must* hit your opponent with your knees, just do a 180 springboard moonsault - it's simpler, safer, more realistic, and you'll even get more high and impact."

Yeah, I have time to think all that. That's how long the move takes.

Oh well, just me being grumpy . . . If you like the move that's fine too.

See, I've always heard that "suicide" just denotes "inside of the ring to outside of the ring", not which ropes you're doing through.
