They are supposed to be illegal in the US now. Are you sure you can still get them?

Man, that's cool if they still sell them ANYWHERE.

really? i hadn't heard that...

my cousin has a resturant in DC's Chinatown, i'll check w/ him and see if he has any. I literally have like 20 of those big assorted buckets. Everytime we have a b-day party or whatever, he brings one over as a "thanks for inviting me into your home" gift, and we're overflowing w/ them.

if he can't get them, i'm sure some of his buddies can get them...

lets just say that Chinese stores and resturants don't like being told what they can and can't sell

if you've got the hookup, you can get what ya need.

Call me a cynic, but I think that your all missing the real reason that they're attacking fast food: They've already drained the Big Tobacco well dry! There's no more money to be had from sueing Tobacco companies. They have to find other things to attack. Fast Food is getting it, and it wont be long before things like Alcoholic beverages are attacked along with SUV's and all other socially acceptable "Bad Behavior."

Watch out, because if the Fast Food lawsuits go through, you'll see companies that make Junk Food get attacked.

And, you ask, why don't they just make these "Bad Things" illegal? Why, you can't tax something that is illegal!

Plus they can base revenues off of them. For example, in Maryland they have a multi-billion dollar education spending plan. They are basing this off of additional tax revenues from higher cigarette taxes. And at the SAME time they are spending $14 million of the tobacco settlement money on a huge ad campaign to get people to STOP SMOKING!. It's enough to drive you NUTS.

Well they did have a good piece recently on 60 Min about how the insane cost of malpractice insurance is driving OB-GYN's out of business, to the point where something like 15% of them have left the industry in the last few years, and that would seem directly tied to the fact that malpractice lawyers circle the hospitals like sharks. From my experience working with and viewing the medical industry, for every one legitimate malpractice case where the doc screwed up, there's two more where lawyers are able to make the big rich doc into the bad guy and soak him and the hospital for a lot of cash for something no one ever could have foreseen or prevented. This works best if the doc happens to be named Singh or Gupta by the by.

The guy suing the companies was actually on The Daily Show last night, and he's not THAT big or fat really. 5'10, 272 is big, but its not morbidally obese or anything.

Not true. You have to look at the cause of death. Cancer is usually long-term and very expensive. Most people (fortunately) don't die such drawn-out, difficult-to-treat deaths.

Things trial lawyers ruin? I can name two important ones right of the bat:

1) People's constitutional right to feel secure in their person (via muddling the criminal justice system and getting violent criminals on the street).
2) People's right not to be sued (successfully) over any damn thing that any damn idiot wants to fight about.

My doctor told me I was obese when I was 6'5" and 275.

Of course, I was pretty much fat at that point, but if he's only 5'10" that's pretty damn fat.

I'm just pissed that I'm still considered obese at 255. Stupid charts.

I hear you. I'm 6'4" and weigh 238 and I am considered borderline even though I have only 11% body fat. Pretty stupid to go by those outdated actuary tables.

The charts really don't mean anything. If you listen to the BMI charts, most professional athletes are obese too. I don't hear anybody on the "Brock Lesnar fatty death watch."

but, do the BMI charts measure obesity or overweightness? I can honestly say I've never looked at the charts. But doesn't BMI stand for Body Mass Index? There are negative side effects of having excess mass (be it from fat or muscle) on the body. But, it seems, that excess muscle is a hell of a lot more beneficial than excess fat of the same amount, hence it's better to be overweight due to being a muscled up freak than overweight due to being a fatass. But, charts are dumb, since that BMI thing doesn't figure for what amount of mass is from what from what I understand., and how we're told to interpret them is usually bloomin' wrong.

And, I'm 6'4, and weigh around 300 to 320 lbs (yes, a big fat computer geek that doesn't go out in the sun much). I'm a bloomin' fat arse.

Yeah, when I saw the guy, I figured he isn't THAT bad. Sure, I'm 5'9", 238, and it is fat, but 275 isn't morbidly obese. At that height, morbidly obese is, like, 350.

Those charts are bullshit, if you are ANY sort of athlete who even lifts weights 10 minutes a week they don't apply to you. I'm 6"2 and weigh 225 and fat by those, but I know people with much bigger guts than me at my height who weigh 20 pounds less. One of my best friends, who is 275 and 6 foot who IS NOT fat because he is SOLID muscle, he's big, but not fat. The guy is 17 and could probably outlift half the WWF roster in squats/bench (he squats 510 and benches 355). I also know guys the same height and weight who are compartive slugs.
