Colin Farrell as Batman and Jude Law as Superman..........What the Fuck?

It might be a rumor but I wouldn't even think of them as Batman and Superman.

Take EVERYTHING reported by AICN -- and I do mean everything -- with a grain of salt.

The rumors I've heard, from a more reliable source, say Christian Bale (in either role) and Paul Rudd (nooooooo) as Superman are being considered.

I can understand Christian Bale but Paul Rudd,I don't think he has done anything since "Clueless". :)

I like either Bale or Colin Farrell as potential actors for Batman, but I still can't help but think Jude Law would be a perfect Joker for some Batman movie. Superman seems like the hardest role to cast.

I've read a lot of rumors for the casting possibilities, but has there been anything about who the villain might end up being? I'd be surprised if they used Luthor, but if they did some take on the Luthor/Joker pairing and went for the animated "World's Finest" movie feel, it could be really entertaining.

None whatsoever. Peterson (the director) was REALLY obtuse when it came down to not only what brings these heroes together, but also who is responsible villain-wise.

My guess would be that they're looking to see who they can get (and what continuity they're going with -- remember, the Joker DIED at the end of the BATMAN movie) and who character-wise people would react to the best.

As I recall, shortly before Joker "dies" in "Batman", he says, "Sometimes I just kill myself." How exactly he could survive, I don't know, but I think they were trying to subtly imply that he somehow might have.

People have been making this argument for 13 years now. The Joker, according to the script, the novelization based on the script, director Tim Burton and actor Jack Nicholson; DIED at the end of BATMAN. People still refuse to believe it. I've heard everything from "I saw him blink," to "he was laughing at the end" to the always fun "the studio sent our theater a different cut and he gets up and walks away."

However, if you still believe he's alive after 13 years of NOT returning in any BATMAN movies, there's nothing I can do to convince you otherwise. Believe what you want.

I'm picturing Gene Hackman and Jack Nicholson reprising their roles of Luthor and Joker, and the potential interactions are cracking me up.

I don't care how they explain it. How do they explain that Batman has looked like Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, and George Clooney all in the last decade? Or how Batgirl, aka Barbera GORDON, is all of the sudden related to Alfred intead of Commissioner Gordon?

Anyways, I don't think people would really expect a movie like this to follow either "Batman" film continuity or "Superman" film continuity.

I view "Batman" as one of the best comicbook movies of all time.

But I have always thought It was weird to kill off his main villain for the first 50 years of the comic book in the first movie.I know it probably was because Jack Nicholson didn't want to do another movie and so they started the villain of the week-esque movies that were Batman Returns,Batman Forever and Batman and Robin. But I think it would be hard to carry over a villian for 2 to 3 years it takes to write and produce a movie and people to still care about the them.

And I still get irked by Barbara GORDON being Alfred's neice instead of Commissioner GORDON daughter but you have to look at that Commish is about 60 years old and a 60 year old man can't have a 20-something year old daughter :).

I know Joel "I like to put nipples on everything" Schumacher based his 2 movies are based on the 60's TV show not the comic books but even in the TV show she was the Commish's daughter.

:::Comic Book geek mode off:::

I still thought Alicia Silverstone was hot as "Batgirl" thought

A 60 year old man can't have a 20 year old daughter? 60-20 = 40.... A guy in his late 30's/earlier 40's can most definately have kids, in fact this is the age where more and more people start families (my parents were 37 when they had me for example)

But when it'll be 20 he'll be 97 and also it had a little bit of sarcasm in it.I know that a 60-year old man can have a 20 year-old daughter but Joel Schumacher apparently doesn't.

For me, 'Batman' was not the movie it should have been. Michael Keaton was horrible as Bruce Wayne/Batman, and while Nicholson's Joker was okay, the role would have been much better served by Robin Williams.

I thought Val Kilmer made the best Batman of the bunch, and the villains in Batman Forever were the second-best (personal fave is Devito's Penguin)...too bad just about everything else in the movie sucked.

To contribute to the actual topic, I can see Jude Law as Superman. Colin Farrell as Batman, though? He seems to have a pretty versatile look, let's hope he plays it well...

Can they bring back The Joker? Of course! When has continuity ever mattered to Hollywood?
As for who can play Superman... well if my memory serves correct then the Superman on my wallpaper as a kid did look kind of like The Rock, though pleeeease don't let them go down this road.

Jude Law as Superman, the best superhero ever?!? Say it ain't so! I can't think of anyone worthy to play Big Blue, personally. No one alive, anyway.
