I tweeted last night:

@BackoftheHead
Watching this week's #TheOffice is like staring for a half hour at a scabby open wound. Pus everywhere.

I really, really did not like this episode in any way.

It had a tinge of what once made the office appealing to me in the first place, the awkward moments. Especially the bachelor party. But it doesn't compare to classic 2006-2010 era, but few shows can ever compare to that kind of greatness. Still good for a few laughs, as long as Kevin and Creed are on the show. I am not one to shit all over a show when it loses a step, as long as it doesn't just totally bottom out. Others choose to, I don't, and that's fine.

It's like good ideas on top of good ideas over there. I always thought The Office had the potential to be another great success like Scrubs By The Bell The New Class.

The new credits can show Nellie, Gabe, Cathy, Val, and Phyllis.

They could bring back some of the old charm with some minor tweaks, plus bringing in a strong lead as the "regional manager"

One tweak would be to take Pam off the show.. most of her character was playing off of Michael and the love story with Jim. Both of those have been concluded.

A bigger thing would be to make a Jim and Pam spinoff, which I think could work as a family sitcom. The characters are strong enough to make it work, Jim is a good leading man. It could be more of that stupid comedy like "breast fed the wrong baby" and "baby pooped on confirmation dress." We might not love it as much as The Office, but it would have a nice family mainstream appeal and network is missing that nowadays-

To slip into my amateur writer mode, I'd probably have a new boss come in. It doesn't have to be a big name, in fact I'd rather it not. The Office isn't about big names- when they started, most of these people were unknowns, and writers. I'd make the new boss very strict, and the tone of the show changes as all of the workers find ways to undermine the strict new boss...

The opening with the mystery of Stanley's mustache was great. The rest of the show is a bit off, but I did love the awkwardness of the bridal shower.

I did! Didn't love it but Erin was great, I couldn't remember if Stan had a stache or not so I was on pins & needles and I didn't hate Nellie this week.

I also enjoyed it as I finally got to see it. Like theremin, I need Nellie to go. I was so happy to hear that Spader had gotten the nod over Nellie, and now Spader is going and she is in. Boo-urns. Still, the Andy-Erin stuff was great and the magician bit was funny.
