Of course, nothing about it is covered under warranty. I can't afford a new phone, and we're not eligible for an upgrade until july. SO, I was wondering if anybody has undertaken the replacement of a touch screen on their phone. I've seen videos on youtube showing how to replace them, but I am wondering if it's as "simple" as it looks in the videos. I figured it would be a good learning experience, and the parts can be found relatively inexpensively. What's the worst that could happen? It doesn't work? Promote this thread! | | Kevintripod

There are people on Ebay that will fix it for you. Looking on there today I saw repair prices as low as $27 and that price also included the glass replacement and the shipping.
That's what I did with my daughters phone and it came back looking brand new. I was very happy. | Packman V2

I looked at doing myself, but it was an expensive part and figured I might as well not waste it by putting it in wrong.
It's never going to be quite as easy as on YouTube, they've probably done it plenty of times before they decided to take a video of it. And there's always something unexpected happens and you break it, though it doesn't likely.
But if the video makes sense to you, and if the comments are not people ripping the video because it didn't work for them, and you're willing to take the risk of it going bad, then you can trust the video. | The Guinness.

I used ebay to fix the back of my iphone4. While it did not really include having to mess with the technology (I did have to remove a plastic strip over some circuits), it was really easy to do. After taking my iphone apart, my guess is that the youtube videos might be as easy as they say it is..... The problem with doing it yourself though is that you pretty much void the warranty on the device. It might be worth the money to have it fixed the right way. I'm just a do it yourself kinda guy.
If you chose the ebay option, keep an eye out for the right tools for the specific model and carrier. Those little screws near the mic are the trick to taking the device apart. | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
