Iron Man 2

Can't tell you how many articles I've read trashing it like it is something like Ghost Rider. Is it Iron Man 1? No. But the first Iron Man is easily one of the top 5 superhero movies ever.

Rourke was a much better villain than Bridges, and the drunken apartment fight between IM and War Machine was brilliant.

There's mine. What are yours?

I liked Iron Man 2 too. (backofthehead.com) Although it's funny, the only time I let someone else write a review on my site was my friend who HATED Iron Man 2. (backofthehead.com)

Let's see, movies I like people hated...

The Muppets? Oh wait, no I have that backwards.

Since it's relevant today, lots of people didn't like Watchmen (backofthehead.com) I loved it.

Oh, here's a good example: I loved The Matrix Reloaded. I also liked The Matrix Revolutions. Most everyone else vehemently disagrees.

Also, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (backofthehead.com) I thought it was a terrific 'throw everything and the kitchen sink' end to the trilogy. I like it a hell of a lot more than Dead Man's Chest and On Stranger Tides.

Transformers. I get it's not the 80's cartoon it's a modern version and they look like a real transforming robot would. Every thing had a place. I don't get the too many humans argument. I thought they were awesome films.

Also the Twilight films. The books aren't bad and the movies are good if you look at it as a alternate universe where what the "rules" are don't apply.

Me, I liked Green Lantern. I enjoyed the special effects and found Reynolds' portrayal of cocky Hal Jordan pretty good.

Add me to Watchmen supporters. Really don't understand what people thing he could have done more. I read the comics again after I saw it, and other than the ending and the pirate shit (which he even did for DVD!) it was practically note for note.

Was the f'n squid that much of a dealbreaker??

Speaking of Pirates, I actually really like Dead Man's Chest. Thought it was fun and didn't suffer from Kiera overload like AWE.

I hate almost everything, so this is hard for to answer, but I came up with two:

Surviving Christmas- I thought it was both funny and sweet as a Christmas movie.

Jersey Girl- I thought it was a nice story. Reminds me to rewatch it as its been a while!

Any American made movie that's based on a foreign movie. They should outlaw the phrase "It's not as good as the Japanese (or dutch, or Korean, or Brazillian or whatever original movie's origin) version" I'm not going to sit and read a movie just because it was made first, so just let me enjoy something (or hate it) based on it's own merit.

Any movie in which the general consensus from the "experts" is "the book was better". Specifically, The Running Man and Remo Williams.

AMEN. That movie was on HBO every day three years ago and I always found myself turning to it when nothing was on. It's so much fun.

I love Vanilla Sky. Most people don't.

I also agree on Watchman, Pirates 3 and Jersey Girl. Watchman was 90% of what I wanted in that film and even though the 10% irked me ie the end, its still better than the 0% chance the film would be good. Pirates 3 was a nice apology for Pirates 2. Jersey Girl was a nice family flick with some good performance, its just hit in the middle of Bennifer.

To me, Episode III is the most head scratching borderline head banging against a desk one. I don't understand the hate for this movie at all. You got everything you wanted with Obi vs. Anakin, the birth of the twins, the fall of the Republic into the Empire and the Jedi Purge. As well as Yoda vs. The Emperor and Obi-wan giving Luke to the Lars family. If you told me that as a kid I would get that there will be a lot of jumping up in down along with screaming. Even as an adult, I was jumping around and almost screaming in joy. I understand that people didn't like Episode I and II, but not III. Episode III was everything the fans demanded from the prequels and got. I have no idea what people wanted out of III? Maybe their insane fan theories about Mace raping Shimi or Obi-wan is short for a clone called OBI1 or topless Portman? I have no idea and the more prequel bashing the more I wonder if these people were fans in the first place or just like bashing popular things.

Episode III was just ok, and I think that's where a lot of anger comes from. It had the potential to be SO MUCH better. For years and years we'd grown up hearing about this epic fight between Anakin and Obi-Wan. Come movie time, the fight is the biggest let down out of all of the duels. There's no drama and it ends up just being them jumping and twirling their lightsabers at each other.

The fight should have been just as epic as Luke/Vader from Jedi. Instead it's all flash and no substance.

I like Attack of the Clones. I like it the most of the prequels.

One day I should review those prequels and attempt to explain myself. But since I have no plans or intentions to review the prequels, I'll try to explain the source of my Attack of the Clones enjoyment.

Basically, I like Attack of the Clones best because it's by far the funniest Star Wars. The Anakin and Amidala love story is the best comedy Star Wars ever gave.

It was a look into George Lucas' psyche, his deep held ideas of "romantic love". I wonder if he pulled any of Anakin's shenanigans on his current girlfriend?

You know, freaked out on her, acted all needy and jealous, made her feel guilty... Told her he doesn't like sand because it's rough and "gets everywhere", unlike her skin, which is "soft and smooth."

Also killed some sand people when she wasn't looking.

Real romantic-like.

And it has the funniest closing like, Yoda looking all sad at the camera: "Begun the Clones Wars have!"

I'm chuckling just thinking about it. Comedy, thy name is George Lucas.

I actually like Phantom Menace the best of the new ones. The part where Darth Maul appears on Naboo and "Duel of the Fates" kicks in is as close to the old films as any of the prequels got.

People always say "but it has Jar Jar". I argue that it has no Hayden Christensen. This is a win in my book.

But I also like Jedi better than Empire. So what do I know?

As somebody who never saw the original Star Wars trilogy until after seeing the prequel trilogy, I never quite got the hate for the prequels at all. I took them as kids' movies, and, as live action kids movies go, they were incredible. Part 3 was definitely the best of the bunch, including 4, 5, and 6.

The shocking parts here were that The Running Man and Remo Williams were adapted from a book.

You can also put me in the liking Phantom Menace camp. I like it because some of it was actually shot on location instead of in a green box. The little we got of Darth Maul was better than most of the other films. And I guess I have an affinity for it because, despite its many faults, it was NEW STAR WARS. At the time, getting new Star Wars was almost inconceivable.

The other two suffer from Lucas trying to make up for the poor reaction to Phantom Menace. He tried to please himself AND everybody else but failed all around.

Episode III was a video game where all the custscenes were people sitting on a couch.

John Williams KILLED IT on all three, though.

EDIT: However, in the spirit of the thread title, I *get* the hate for Phantom Menace.

RotS did as good as it possibly could with what it was given. You couldn't have done any better having to follow what was established in Phantom Menace and AotC.

And while I don't think Jedi is better than Empire, I still love it and the Ewoks do not ruin it for me. They are nowhere near as annoying as Jabba's band (especially the SE) and Chewie doing the Tarzan yell.

I liked Phantom Menace the first time I saw it, the 2nd it was awful.

I did really like the other prequels, Attack was quite a bit of fun. The romance is shitty but the rest is great.
