Hey all you middlemen, open yourselves up a DOS prompt and tell it "telnet towel.blinkenlights.nl"

You'll be glad you did

Amazingly, this STILL works.

(And I think this is the first time I actually watched it all the way through to find out where it ended...just before Luke and Leia exit her prison cell!)

And seven years later....IT STILL DOES (and still just as awesome).

For those who don't know, in Windows XP go to the Start Menu and click on "Run". WHen the run box appears type in CMD. WHen the command prompt appears (ie; big black box) type in telnet towel.blinkenlights.nl (found below).

In a place long long ago and far far away, you didn't have pretty Windows icons to click on. You had to learn a strange langugage to make your computer do anything, and what it did really wasn't that impressive. That's DOS. It's not dangerous now. Too much.

But this? This is fine. No problems here.

During the last World Cup, I remember seeing a link where someone rigged a system to do this live as the game was going. Couldn't see much of anything, but it was still cool.

I got fooled by the timestamps on the main page, as after your post the "newer older" posts were posted.

Oh well, at least I will live in infamey (much like the DOS movie) :)

For those with XP, go to "Start", then "Programs", then "Accessories", then "Command Prompt".

Took me FOREVER to figure out where the hell my "DOS Prompt" command went to from 98...

In any case, I got back server timeouts, basically. So I pinged a few sites just to see if THEY responded and they did. So I don't know what's up...
