Really? My Blueshirts take the Winter Classic, and no one posts about it? I actually had to leave when it was still scoreless in the second for a work appointment, and taped the rest. Well worth going around with spoiler shields up for a few hours. What a great comeback.

I would have been beside myself with anger if the Flyers had tied the game on that bullshit delay of game penalty. Then I was pretty much hopping mad when the announcers said they had called Callahan for embellishing, and it was crystal-clear to me that he hadn't done that. I calmed down a bit once I heard the PA say it was actually holding the stick he was called for. It seemed he just grabbed onto the stick because he was falling--I honestly don't know if that should be a penalty or not (since he was only falling because he'd been the victim of a penalty). By the time of the penalty shot call I was just mad at the refs, but it probably was the right call. And you certainly have to love the drama of a penalty shot to tie the game with less than 20 seconds left.

Really happy with where the Rangers are right now...although they probably are playing a little over their heads to be leading the conference, it looks like they're a really solid team, and they've got some young talent with a lot of long-time potential--Del Zotto, Stepan, maybe Hagelin who has played really well in the short time he's been up.

My brother got me primo seats for a game against Columbus in February. Can't wait!

I am still loving Henrik stoning Briere on that Penalty Shot. My brother (a conspiracy theroist of the finest order) claims that because Comcast owns the Flyers & NBC that the NHL was doing everything they could to get the Flyers a win. Too bad they forgot to tell Lundqvist.

The Rangers do look good so far this year. They actually have a young team that can skate instead of a bunch of old overpaid rink turning former all stars like we have had for so many years in the past. the season is still young and there is a lot of hockey to be played but I can't wait to go on Thursday night when the FIRST PLACE Rangers come home.

My Philly friends who baked me a Crosby Sucks cookie can now eat it. A Flyers lose is a win for me. Rangers look good now, but I have questions if they can be the one seed even if Crosby doesn't come back. If anything we need to move the Classic out of PA due to Global Warming and into Canada where there is a better chance of snow and a fanbase who deserves it.

I think the Classic is a consistently horrible game for the simple fact that the puck doesn't move so no one can play hockey. But within those shitty parameters I couldn't ask for a better game this year. Looking forward to the 24/7.

Mike Rupp is the best, just the absolute best. I salute him.

Last year, they had a Winter Classic in the US and a Heritage Classic in Canada. I really don't see any reason why they couldn't do that every year.

But, yeah, Philly is a bit far south. I've seen stories that they want to do one in Washington, and that *really* seems like it's asking for trouble. But certainly Detroit and Minnesota ought to be viable places for one.

Interesting article on the future of the game.
As most probably know, NBC has a large say in this game and the teams involved (=large U.S. markets) but maybe that last part is changing now, and we could see Canadian teams.

I feel a Toronto-Montreal game could have huge ratings even in the USA, if you just play up the eons of rivalry between the two teams.

Well you guys won't like what Wil Wheaton wrote on twitter if you think Washington is too far south. He wants to see the LA Kings play a game at either the Rose Bowl or the Coliseum, as impossible as that seems.

NHL teams that have outdoor CFL stadiums (like Calgary did) are Edmonton, Winnipeg and Montreal.

Montreal's outdoor stadium can only fit 25,000 people (it was 20,000 until recently), so that might not be ideal. They play their playoff games inside the old Olympic Shithole Stadium.

BC, Toronto, (and Montreal when in the Big O) are retractable roof stadiums, which might not work that well either.

There were people in Miami talking about closing the retractable roof on the Marlins new stadium, turning the air conditioning all the way up, and playing it there.

People like silly, illogical ideas.

Did he steal some weather-control equipment off the Enterprise? Because that's pretty much the only way that's going to work. I mean, I'd like to see it, too, but I'm thinking it's going to be a long time before it's remotely feasible.

As for the suggestion about closing the roof on the Marlins' stadium and playing it there, ISTM that that completely misses the point.

Stay classy, Philly.

As for next years Winter Classic; I'm predicting it will be Boston vs Detroit at Comerica Park.
