Alternate thread title (inspired by John Orquiola): Is it too late to put Hunico in the mask again?
As mentioned on the PPV, Sin Cara has a ruptured patella tendon. And good lord, Meltzer says he's out for a LONG while!
The preliminary diagnosis is Sin Cara will need surgery for his torn patella tendon (knee) and be out six to nine months.
With Rey still on the shelf for a good while, the E is now suddenly without masked superstars. Is it time to bring over another masked guy from Mexico? And are they going to bother to push Sin Cara again if he comes back?

I'm a bit torn on which way to suggest they go here.. I suppose if you want to give Sin Cara another chance when he's healed, you already have Hunico in the Mexican gangbanger gimmick, it would be easy enough to string him along in something like a Chavo storyline from his last couple of years.
OTOH, if they decide enough is enough with Sin Cara, why not go ahead and put Hunico back under the mask, and play it for laughs sort of like they did with the Mr. America gimmick?
I could see this going either way, but I'm not sure I can think of anything else the E would go for. I guess the deep conspiracy theory could be that they worked the whole thing to give Sin Cara six months to "learn WWE style". It did seem like they made a big honking deal out of standing around for an injury that couldn't possibly have factored into the finish of the SS-team match. Did it really take four minutes for the faces to figure out that Kofi was the only one left that could work Hunico?
(Maybe TheCubsFan would have some suggestions of luchadores that might fit, if you want to bring in a replacement?)

WWE had already worked out a bunch of luchadors last time thru Mexico. There were some very logical replacements (even one who could actually do promos in English.) It was unclear who got developmental deals and who would accept them - no one's actually left Mexico at this point - but if WWE wanted to just grab a Mexican replacement for Sin Cara, they have the contact info.
Still - I don't know who's in FCW who fits the bill, but I'd think they'd actually go there first to avoid having to deal with the adjustment period.
I'm more immediately curious with what they're going to do with Hunico's crew. They seemed to exist only to feud with Sin Cara. I guess they'd also make logical tag opponents to Air Boom, but that can't quite work for a couple more weeks. It'd suck for them if they were just RKO'd into oblivion.

I actually don't think his long absence is that bad for him, because all his momentum had been stalled with the suspension and the fake Sin Cara feud. May as well just start again with vignettes and a fresh beginning to try to get him back to where he was. Biggest negative for him is that I think Mysterio was trying to get back for Wrestlemania to wrestle him -- although you really need to get Sin Cara going again for that to work like it should.
Weird that Kharma and Sin Cara both have to take 9 months off after the focused build-ups.

I say it's time to throw Tyson Kidd and Evan Bourne under masks. Not as Sin Cara(s), but just repackage Tyson Kidd as Kidd Dynamite wearing the Miz's Calgary Kid mask, and repackage Evan Bourne as Evan Bourne, only now he wears a mask that kids can buy, and maybe he points at people now.
(I'm actually kinda serious about repackaging Kidd with a face masked wrestler gimmick. It couldn't hurt him, and why not see if you could sell some masks with a guy who can already work your style but isn't a great talker?)

When Sin Cara does a re-debut as Sin Kharma, the soap opera style rapidly grown child of Kharma, you're gonna have a lot to answer for.
