This fight was nothing short of amazing. Both guys brought their A-game and it resulted in an awesome, AWESOME boxing match! I certainly don't remember the last three or four Mayweather fights being this competitive.

It comes down to matchups. Marquez has always been a bad matchup for Pacquiao. Even though Pacquiao's 3-0 against him, it's a narrow 3-0. Marquez is better equipped for an offensive-minded fighter like Paquiao. In contrast, Marquez looked terrible against Mayweather, because Mayweather is all about defense.

If I learned anything from tonight, it's that Mayweather will dominate a fight against Pacquiao, because Mayweather will simply dance around and avoid contact for 12 rounds and walk away with a decision. Pacquiao's offense is potent, but it can be neutralized with a decent defense.

Great fight. Watching it live I thought Marquez had it because he landed the more meaningful punches but Manny came on stronger at the end and might just have done enough to edge it.

First fight was a draw.

I'd still take Manny, but I'm less convinced than I was a few hours ago. Actually I'd still take "fight will never happen", more's the pity...

Great fight, but good lord, why can't Marquez take his loss like a man? He was blaming everything and everyone with exception of his mother for the loss.

Marquez has no one to blame but his corner men and himself. If his corner men were telling him after 9 or 10 rounds that he was winning that fight, then that's just a failure all around.

Can't blame Marquez for being upset. It was a close fight but it seemed to me like Marquez was the clear winner. Marquez could arguably be 3-0 against Pacquiao but as I understand it, he's been screwed out of at least one win before and now possibly another one last night.

Boxing scoring is a hard thing to wrap your brain around sometimes. Too often there is the "this guy got drubbed for three rounds but he *did better* that last round so I will give it to him even though he didn't really win it"-quirk in scoring. I don't think that happened last night. I think that Manny Pacquiao got the "he is MANNY PACQUIAO"-benefit of the doubt a couple of times, but I don't think anything egregious happened, and if you have a problem with Manny winning eight rounds on one scorecard that means you HAVE to feel that Marquez DEFINITIVELY won five rounds of that fight. I don't think there were many DEFINITIVE rounds out of the twelve that were fought last night...just a lot of close ones that could have gone either way.

In fact, looking at the official scorecards, only six of the twelve rounds were scored unanimously for either fighter...three for Manny (rounds 1, 3, and 6) and three for Marquez (rounds 4, 5, and 7). And in ALL SIX of those other rounds, two of the three judges scored the fight for Manny Pacquiao, so scoring-wise you could actually make a case for a 117-111 result.
