Well. That was quite the DC Comics geekout. All out action with Young Justice and the Justice League battling the Injustice League - Count Vertigo, The Joker, Poison Ivy, Black Adam, Ultra-Humanite, Atomic Skull, and Wotan. Or, as Batman coined the phrase, "a Secret Society of Super Villains". Who are based in the Louisiana swamps in the Legion of Doom base.

Zatara was the YJ supervisor this week, but Captain Marvel was still there, and a bunch of other DC heroes made appearances battling Poison Ivy's giant killer plants around the world, like Guy Gardner, Captain Atom, Blue Devil(!), and even some people I couldn't identify. Who was the flying woman in the purple energy and the flying black guy in the domino mask? Was that Icon?

I liked how every member of Young Justice fought the Injustice League, including Superboy's new wolf, and Megan's bioship. And then Dr. Fate shows up! Giant golden ankhs everywhere!

The only things I didn't quite dig were The Joker, who didn't think was quite Joker-y enough (though he uses knives, a seemingly lasting contribution Heath Slater made to the character) and Dr. Fate returning Aqualad to the team. Kid Flash: "Nabu will never let Aqualad go! Oh, there he is." Plus it seems weird to have such major events happening in the DCU but Superman has no dialogue and plays no major role, nor do I recall seeing Wonder Woman.

Still, you can't ask for more action than that, plus, finally, the "Revelation" of The Light: Vandal Savage, Lex Luthor, Queen Bee, Kobra, R'as Al Ghul, The Brain, and Klarion the Witch Boy. All of whom have been Young Justice's enemies in prior episodes. They must really have it out for those kids now.

This felt like a season ending show, with the callbacks to previous shows. Then not so much in the last few seconds.

Who was the flying woman in the purple energy and the flying black guy in the domino mask? Was that Icon?

I was hoping you would know! The internets say Yes: it was Icon & his sidekick Rocket.

This is possibly heretical, but Young Justice uses the background heroes better than Justice League United - they don't feel like background characters.

(though he uses knives, a seemingly lasting contribution Heath Slater made to the character)

This is a fantastic typo.

The Joker is a One Man Rock Band. Also, I was watching Smackdown as I wrote that. As I continue to watch while I type this. On this board, let's agree to retroactively change history so that Academy Award winner Heath Slater played The Joker in The Dark Knight.

Yeah, art design notwithstanding, I did not care for that Joker at all. Of course, there are a lot of high bars for the Joker, especially an animated one based on the movies, which means he has to measure up to Mark Hamill and Heath Whatsisname. Even a better Joker would have trouble with that. Still, good episode, especially because it had Count Vertigo in it, a character which I thoroughly did not expect to see animated again.

Yeah, I'm with all of you guys that this was a fun geekfest. John, I'm glad I found the thread, if only to identify a lot of the names that I couldn't recognize. The several-month hiatus didn't do this show any favors, because I had already forgotten about Queen Bee and Kobra. The cameos from Blue Devil, Guy Gardner, and...flying masked black guy (I almost guessed Hourman until I read Cubs' post) were just a joy to see.

The writing for this show continues to astound me. They identified a threat worthy of the Justice League, used a logical reason to write the League out of that fight, and had Young Justice hold their own until they were inevitably overpowered by the A-list villainy...which is just as it should be. Young Justice, even at their pluckiest, shouldn't be able to win against a threat the magnitude of the Injustice League. And thanks to some stellar writing, all parties looked great, nobody was written out-of-character, and it resulted in an awesome story.

That's going to be a hell of a fight against The Light. Those are the absolute top dogs in terms of DCU villains, barring the cosmic bad guys. I'm very much excited for where this show is going.

Would anyone have identified him as Brent Spiner? I had to re-watch a second time, but that was amazing that I couldn't hear Data at all in that performance.

And a double WOW for Alyssa Milano as Poison Ivy. Didn't recognize her voice at all!

I didn't think it was all that logical for YJ to go after the IL when the JLA is busy with planets. Batman would not allow anyone, but himself to go after Joker. They at least got their asses kicked which made sense. The Dr. Fate helmet was a nice touch. I thought the reveal of who the Light was just ok. There are no heavy hitters power wise. The show has been amazing, but I feel minus the DC cameos, it was a very odd episode.

How the show is handling the Green Lanterns is clearly showing how much love and concern the creators of this show have for DC Comics. The first episode I mentioned showed us John Stewart, then Hal Jordan. This episode they turn around and have GUY GARDNER (aka Boss Lantern) showing up to save a school bus, complete with "I'm the man" smirk (which he is). Kyle Rayner is obviously next up on the GL cameo list.

Anyway, fantastic show, with several geek out moments as everyone has mentioned.

I agree with It's False about the incredible writing on this show.

John, it may seem like a copout that they had him loose the helm right after, but there's two points:

1) Aqualad knows sorcery better than Wally.
2) Kent Nelson probably traded another century or two to free Aqualad.

BONUS THIRD POINT:

3) SLATERS GONNA SLATE.
