I sort of liked it. Mary Elizabeth Winstead is the best thing about The Thing.

The original "The Thing" had excellent characters and by halfway in the movie, you knew all of them, and they each had their own personality. Windows, MacReady, Childs, Blair, Palmer, etc
This movie had none of that character interaction, the movie focused too many on computer animation, thus wasn't nearly as good as the original. It also didn't leave you in suspense during the movie of "who is who".
It only did 8.5 million at the box office over the weekend. But what people forget, is the 1982 The Thing was also a box office flop. But unlike the 1982 movie, this one won't have a cult following. | odessasteps

I'll also agree with the OP, Mary Elizabeth Winstead did play a good role in this with a good conclusion on her part that left you a question.
