Also,I think they had that many because the Sopranos haven't had any new episodes for about a year.Still no love for Buffy either. | SmoovyG

I wouldn't have nominated the pilot for best writing, since I felt the series really started to kick things up a gear after the third episode or so. The 2-part season finale was the strongest representation of the series, but any recognition is good. | odessasteps

Carol Burnett special Fairly Odd Parents Family Guy Simpsons (The Branson MO episode) Judging Amy
Here's another funny category...
Outstanding Individual Performance in a Variety or Musical
Sting, A&E concert Billy Joel, A&E concert The Daily Show (I think for JOn Stewart) WHose Line? (Wayne Brady and Ryan Stiles) | Papercuts!

At least is wasn't The Wayne Brady Show.
Actually, even worse than the Justice League theme nomination was a nomination in the same category for the CBS turd Wolf Lake (cancelled after two episodes). | OlFuzzyBastard

| #9 Posted on 18.7.02 1352.20 Reposted on: 18.7.09 1359.03 | They actually have an "Other" category this year, which is for stuff that doesn't fit anyplace else. So competing against each this year, you've got:
-Survivor -The "I Love Lucy" 50th Anniversary Special -The documentary episode of "The West Wing" -The AFI 100 Years - 100 Thrills special -That Trading Spaces show on The Learning Channel
Kinda reminds me of the "B Sharps" episode of the Simpsons when they were nominated for a Grammy in the Best Gospel, Spoken Word or Barbershop category.
Still, I actually think they pulled together a decent crop of shows this year. "Six Feet Under" *is* a good, original show. Maybe not the best drama on TV, but... Pretty much the entire cast of "The West Wing" was nominated, and that's right on the money. That probably *is* the best drama on TV, and that includes "The Sopranos".
I can't fathom why "Everybody Loves Raymond" gets nominated for so much every year. It's not bad, just bland. Peter Boyle rules, but that's mostly residual respect from "Young Frankenstein" more than anything else.
And how did "Malcolm In The Middle" lose it's Best Comedy nomination to "Curb Your Enthusiam"? I mean, okay, "Sex And The City" sucks hard, but at least it's popular. "Curb Your Enthusiam" is a fifth-rate Seinfeld. Well, Bryan Cranston got nominated this year (Hal), so at least there's some justice. Even if he is going to lose it to that annoying little bastard from "Will And Grace".
And they nominated Bernie Mac! I just noticed that... | Papercuts!

You just nailed it right on the head. It's so safe, it's offensive (to me), which is why they nominate it. | odessasteps

Yeah. I totally agree. There's another show that doesn't deserve the hype or accolades it receives. Of course, I think Buffy is a total waste of time, too (which probably flushes my credibility with you down the toilet, Mark). | odessasteps

It isn't actually a "Superboy" show because we'll never see him in the suit and cape.
Do any of you remember one of the early-90's syndicated Superboy show with guest star such as Lex Luger and Sting.

Yeah, but it won't. I'll mark out like a little bitch if it does, but it won't.
I'm pissed that Leslie Hope didn't get a nomination. She deserves it more than Kiefer.

Bah, all she had to do for the majority of the show was just play Kiefer's #2, and just be generally supportive. While for the most part, Kiefer just had to look angry and badass. The real emotional weight of the "day" went on Teri's shoulders, so that's my reasoning for saying that Leslie Hope deserves the emmy more :) |
