Well, no, actually because "true" science fiction is so hard to find any more. There's a difference between Science Fiction (something like MINORITY REPORT, AI, or BLADE RUNNER), Sci-Fi (which is ID4) and Space Fantasy/Space Opera (which is STAR WARS). Each of the three are very different.

Science Fiction examines the human condition, among other things, and actually applies scientific formulae to one or a number of the aspects depicted in the work, but puts it to use with a fictional application and/or a fictional setting.

I guess I'm weird then, cuz I consider all those to be science fiction.

*shrug*

But from your standpoint, yeah I see what you're sayin'.

Godzilla sucked. I remeber my friend said he had to go to the bathroom and left for 30 minutes. I went out to find him and he was playing Street Fighter vs. X-Men. I joined him -- better than that crap (I did see the whole movie again with someone else so I can judge it).

Someone didn't pay attention to the movie. The ONLY way the ring can be destroyed is to throw it back into the fires of the mountian where it was created. Otherwise it will ALWAYS be found.

And your "big ol' crack Gandalf fell into" example is way wrong -- but discounting it would require me to reveal a huge spoiler for many who don't know what happens next.

Chucking the ring down into THAT crack would've basically been GIVING it to the big fiery hellbeast that fell down there, or lord-knows-what-else.

Invisible Balrog... mmm...
