I works at a rad video rental place, and they's selling all their old VHS tapes. Today, a ton of wrestling (WWF from the 80's and 90's, and WCW) were put in the big happy bin.

Any recommendations for really lame assed tapes to take a gawk at? Like, there's this one that has a "cooking with Yokozuna, the big bad bachelor" or something. Odd, stupid stuff like that.

if you see *wwf smack 'em whack 'em!*, you should pick it up... shawn michaels vs bret hart in the first televised wwf ladder match from 1992 for bret's intercontinental title, as well as bret vs flair from saskatoon, where bret wins his first wwf title. the rest is crap, but bret and flair, man! BRET AND SHAWN, MAN! gold.

i don't know any other great coliseum videos, but a few of the in your house shows were turned into coliseum videos for no real reason (not called "in your house", either). look for the canadian stampede one (check the matches), because damn, that ppv rules.

*er... EDIT: i actually have that coliseum video with the big bad bachelor, yokozuna. i'm not sure what is on the tape though. it might be wwf world tour 1992, which sucks, outside of a killer shawn michaels - macho man match-up.

There's also a tape with The Hart Foundation vs. The Steiner Brothers. Pick that up too.

Invasion '92

Has Bret Hart-Ric Flair for the Intercontinental Title, and Shawn Michaels-Ric Flair right before Shawn turned heel.

Pretty much, if it's cheap, I'd pick up ANY Coliseum tape. There's bound to be some good matches, and even if not, they're really fun to watch.

On the other hand. . .browsing through my local video store, which was closing out tapes and I found what filled me with what could best be described as terror:

PILEDRIVER: The Wrestling Album 2: The Videos.

I was tempted to buy it, but I don't know if I could handle the 1-2 punch of "Jive Soul Bro" and "If You Only Knew" without years of corrective surgery afterwards.

You think that's bad, I almost bought a copy of the Wrestlers' "Land of 1,000 Dances?!" 45 on eBay. This was when I was buying 45's for a jukebox in the future, which is currently stocked with Weezer ("Hash Pipe"), Beastie Boys ("Fight for Your Right"), and Zebrahead (I dunno, it's the yellow one).

Which reminds me, I should probably head down to the local Tommy K's and see what they have... the only video place I remember with Coliseum videos shut down years ago and has since been replaced with a porn shop.

insideSolution: They got Smack 'Em Whack 'Em. I must rent or borrow it, yes I must.

To expand on what I want recommended to me, is, videos that are loaded with wrestlecrap. Prices go like this: I can rent 'em for a dollar, or buy 'em for 6.88 (canuckian) after taxes.

Oh, and there's also a "Paul Bearers' Matches from the CRYPT!" or something tape there too. And many of the boxes have things saying "And check out the tips for WWF games by Acclaim from superstars like..." on 'em, which must be coo'.

In that case I recommend "Piledriver," It's not just loaded with Wrestlecrap, it's saturated to such a degree the EPA would label it a biohazard.

For God's sake, it has "Stand Back" on it.Sung by Vince McMahon. That sound you hear is the Earth shattering beneath your feet.

on smack'em whack'em, you got the bushwhackers and lord alfred hayes repairing a broken down house. yep...

basically, every coliseum video with a wacky title is bound to be chock full of craptacular action. the matches may not be so bad, but in between the matches, the skits and stuff, are... well, let's just say that i've seen enough coliseum videos, and i still have not found one that makes me go "oh so they CAN make these things logical AND entertaining!".

take that for what it's worth.

If it is Wrestlecrap like segments you should look for Invasion of the Body Slammers, which has a running gag (a term I use very loosely) where Reverend Slick teaches Kamala how to bowl. The only thing worthwhile on the rest of the tape is the finale Perfect vs. Flair (not the RAW loser leaves WWF match).

Here's a past slash review:

And I actually own the Piledriver video. I paid $10 for it a bout 5 years ago. You may proceed to laugh at me.

Sadly, they lack the Piledriver videos.

Tonight, i rented the Wrestelmania Codes and Secrets Video Guide (or somin' like that) tape. I watched it twice in a row, and I can watch it again. It's just incredibly entertaining. "There it is, right there in front of you the whole time. Open your eyes. You're de-referencing a null pointer." is the greatest Bret Hart quote EVAR~!

The video is so incredibly lame that it was worth the 1.15 it cost to rent. really. It was great. and I'll watch it again later, probly.

Be warned the review SUCKS. There is also a decent Bret Hart/Shawn Michaels match on the tape, but it suffers from a lame DQ ending. The rest of the matches suck.

As for the piledriver video, I've seen the one they aired on the October '87 SNME...what crap. The best I figured was that the video was supposed to begin a push for Koko B. Ware (who used it as his entrance music) that never happened. At least I hope that's the reason...

I was at the RAW where Benoit & Jericho dusted off the old Slammy footage of Vince singing and dancing...if you've ever wanted to watch 15,000 Canadians laugh at a multi-millionaire, that's what you need to show 'em to do it. Pure WrestleCrap.

I'm of the opinion that the best part of that segment was Dancin' Chris Benoit.

What, they had Hart visit the programming crew for the Wrestlemania game and riff on them? Probably in full ring gear too, yes?

If you could find some way to capture (even just the audio) that line and make it available that would be ubėrsweet.

wrestlecrap.com had that audio quote for download when the site was up fulltime...
