| #1 Posted on 2.7.11 0039.20 Reposted on: 2.7.18 0040.05 | I've been going on there forever. Them and Scoops were the first wrestling sites I found on the internet that I liked and I had been going to them both since the late 90's (Yeah, Scoops died in 2001 or so, I know...) and I finally got to give up on 411. I spent over an hour today cleaning my computer of two viruses I got from their site.
This is what I wrote to them...
Yeah, hi long time visitor to your site here. I just wanna let you know that I'm giving up and not going on there anymore.
I've had it with the obstructive advertising and virus infected pop ups you people are using. I just spent an hour cleaning my computer of two different virus I picked up from your site. One from the ISM advertising and one for a fake virus cleaner. That one came from trying to pause a video on the bottom of a page.
I'm not complaining about the advertising, I understand the need for it, but you need to use companies that don't make your computer download crap without you knowing it or blocking you from content that is supposedly free. I understand the site needs to make a buck, I even randomly click on banner ads and what not cause I DO like your site and want it to survive, but I feel you just don't care enough about your readers anymore and it's ONLY about the advertising.
Does ANY site really need, on average, 3 pop ups, 2 flash videos and now you got this ISM crap that comes up over every picture you move your mouse over... even the banner ads? ...on EVERY page? It's just too much. Seriously!
As I said, I'm a long time visitor, I've been going to your site for almost as long as it's been around. I was an original Scoops Wrestling reader and I made the switch over when Al Isaacs shut down the first time. I just felt the need to vent and complain because I really am sad to do this. I really do love the site... I just can't take the way it is being run anymore with all the advertising.
I left that on their Facebook page and I've sent a version of it to Ashish as well.
So... any suggestions on other wrestling sites to visit that won't fuck up my computer?
EDIT: Oh God! 1Wrestling is worse than I remember. The entire right side of the screen was all auto play flash ads. As you go down the page, they each start playing so there were five going at once.

Wow, TPWW are still going? I used to visit that site back when they had Angelfire in their domain name.
I visit Jason Powell's site more than any other news site at this point, and I pay the subscription. For your $5 a month (that's what I pay, it may have gone up since), you get a hefty chunk of audio, the occasional nugget of exclusive news and a members forum. If you don't fancy paying anything though, it's still pretty good, IMHO. | Alex
