I had a bottle hit my rental car while I was in Toronto after SummerSlam 2004. This is not really a surprise to me.

Yeah, and they should do to same to Chicago, where two cops were shot during the 92 Bulls riot. And Detroit, where seven died in the 1990 Pistons riot. And Denver for their Superbowl riot. And Montreal for the Stanley Cup riot.

As a Vancouver fan this second riot is embarrassing, but please cut the soapbox shit. This happens in a ton of cities.

I was probably caught up in the anger watching everything unfold, and yeah, the NHL would never do it. Embarassment is a nice way to put it.

Why should the NHL punish the Canucks? It wasn't their fault that the fans were rioting. If anything, the blame should be placed on the police department for not learning the lessons of 1994. It is not the teams respondability to control the crowds outside of their home stadiums. Taking away home games for not being able to control something they never had control over in the first place is one of the stupidest arguments I have ever heard.

A man(Bettman) who brought hockey back to Winnipeg. Anyway the riots afterwards well I'm sure Trey Parker took note as a matter of fact I'm sure it will be a South Park episode.

Bettman was commisioner when the Jets moved from Winnipeg to Phoenix, the Whalers moved to Carolina, and the Nordiques moved to Colorado.

Sheesh, I just realized that every one of my homer teams is a relocated Canadian team or an expansion team (Wild)

Please tell me you're joking, do you need a geography lesson? Or are you just generalizing all Canadians as rioters?

Remember who you're dealing with.

Anyway, this whole riot thing was completely worth it because it gave us this:

Even the URL is wonderful.

And he got booed here even when he was announcing we were getting a team back.

For years, people would ask Bettman about hockey coming back to Winnipeg (because you know, his teams seem to be falling apart financially) and his most famous response was a couple years ago saying "Winnipeg will NEVER get an NHL team back!" while doing that head-shaking thing he does and almost frothing at the mouth.

Atlanta's owner being willing to disband the team rather then go another year with that mess, coupled with the fact that True North was the *only* group in the world that wanted to take the team from him, has 101% more to do with Winnipeg getting a team back then anything Bettman had to do with it.

Not to make light of the riot, but this picture is just too funny for words.

I am the rental car agency didn't think I was joking. Canadians nice people, but they are still people who take their sports seriously. I am not shocked especially with the Peter King tweets.

Congratulations to the Bruins -- they played a good, solid game last night. Tim Thomas continued to be awesome, which you have to respect. Vancouver's defence totally fell apart -- they didn't even look like the same team as game 5 -- & Luongo clearly didn't have his head back from game 6. Unlie game 6, I was fine with the officiating -- evenhanded & fair.

So, now what the hell is going on in Vancouver! I turned off sports after the game, & am just now getting back to news. This is not behaviour that is acceptable in Vancouver. (Well, anywhere, but especially Vancouver!) What are you people thinking?!?

Speaking as an "arrogant" Boston fan, I will freely admit that many of the people who are fans of the teams I like are assholes. That being said, prior to this last decade the only team that won titles that I remember in my lifetime was the Celtics. I was 4 when the Bruins last won the Cup so I have no memory of that.

What I do remember is the Red Sox, Bruins, and Patriots finding ways to blow shots at the title and/or being the jokes of their respective leagues. If I seem arrogant or an asshole for enjoying things finally turning for the better for the teams I like then so be it. I'd rather they be hated for being successful than ridiculed for being failures.

This is pretty good too

I must say that even when I watched the teams I root for fail in spectacular ways many years ago, the thought of lighting shit on fire and trying to jump over it to make me feel better never crossed my mind.
