This could just be me blocking out memories from this awful season, but didn't Bonnie just go on vacation a few episodes ago?

This is the closest this show's come to feeling like its old self. I can't lie that my Spidey Sense was tingling when Bonnie said she went out to have an affair, because if there's any failing this show's had this season, it's been going overdramatic at the end. And like clockwork, they nearly did it again...until I saw the payoff at the end of Joe's first walk! I almost lost it.

The B-plot carried this episode big time, as it feels like Peter's history lessons were just Seth MacFarlane clearing out any unused manatee gags. But that Mick Jagger bit just went WAYYYYY too long! Conway Twitty looked at that and said "Man, that went way too long!"

Best episode of the season by a long shot. It's just too bad it'll be a while before we see if they can follow this up, since the season's ending on It's A Trap.

Interesting to note, this episode has zero dialogue from Stewie or Brian. Is that a first?

I didn't think this episode was bad it was just really dull.
I did enjoy the flu scare.

Both Stewie and Brian had lines in the begining

Peter's teaching, the American Dad with Joe and the local news flu scare tactics pushed this into the win column. Lois just came off rather bitchy for a woman who slept with Clinton and breaks up with Peter every fourth episode. The last scene was cool and I agree Dancing in the Streets was the gayest video of the 80s.

Only Peter (and maybe Homer Simpson) is stupid enough to think of doing the Ferris Buller 'fake dad' bit when he didn't need to. So yeah, I laughed at that, the muppets, and Joe replacing Stan on AD. It was looking to be a really solid episode. And then we got to Peter teaching history and holy shit, did it take a nosedive. Yeah, Bowie/Jagger singing 'Dancing In The Streets' was gay, but did we need to see the whole video? Conway Twitty was tame compared to this. It got a little better towards the end with the mine-on-mine violence and Joe 'walking', but the middle was rough to watch. It was an OK episode. It could had been better with different story lines; Peter teaching and Bonnie having a affair just didn't work for me.

I like the Joe AD spoof. How long ago was the Joe/Stan Smith comparisons? Four years ago? I did like how they put "Newspaper joke fails to live up to expectations" in there. It feels like AD is the youngest child overshadowing the oldest son. They just keep picking on it. But its the one show out of the five on Sunday I look forward too the most.

Airing the whole "Dancing In The Streets" video was inexcusably bad. If this happened a couple years ago, FG's animators would have animated Peter (or some other character(s)) into the video. They would have been motivated to do something a little special or worthwhile with it. FG has done many, many extended gags that went on just a bit too long. Some of them were funny, some weren't...but at least they were doing *something*. This was just the height of laziness.

Yup. Exactly that. The only reason I gave it as long as 30 seconds is that I was waiting for them to do *anything* with it. But, no, FFwd is my friend.

The episode where Stewie & Brian ended up in CIA headquarters & they acknowledged Stan as somebody who looks really familiar was well done. This was not. Lois & Bonnie doing the Muppet Tour of Paris seemed like it had potential. Brrrapf -- no points there. Bonnie's reasons for seeking an affair all had to do with Joe being handicapped. (Something along the lines of "I've been married for 87 years -- in handicapped time.") If you tried, you couldn't better undermine the joke of her getting with another wheelchair-bound guy.

This was just not good. I suspect it's one of those episodes which, when it comes around on AS, I'll flip over & see what's on CC.

It was okay, but nothing more. Nothing really funny here, which even with FG at its worst, usually has at least one gag in them that gets a laugh out of me. I didn't have a big problem with either plot, but just nothing to write home about here.
