Here's a place to discuss the draft. How did your team do? What moves or picks surprised you?

On a related note:
Dear NFL Network,
I understand your eagerness to report on the draft. But would it KILL you to not be showing the pick talking on the phone BEFORE his name is announced? Really, what are you gaining from that extra 2 seconds of "announcing" it? Can you knock that crap off?

Thanks!

I am not sold on Cam. NO should be shitting themselves at the prospect of defending Jones, White and Gongalez. The Browns have traded for the future and it was a good move. Jake Locker are you kidding me, Titans?

No shit, is this going to be a Dan Marino deal where he(Gabbert) just keeps falling? I am sure Washington will scoop him up though.

And, I love how the crowd are just shitting all over Goodell every time he walks on stage. It's like he's John Cena at the first ECW PPV.

It was the second ECW One Night Stand, actually, but your point is well-taken.

I'm watching the Nationals game; wake me when they get to the Colts.

The DETROITSPORTSTALKGUYZ are freaking out over Nick Fairley (DT, Auburn) falling to the Lions at #13. Suh last year and now Fairley? I'm down.

Edit - they are freaking out in a good way.

Did the Dark Lord from Foxborough make a bad pick? Yet, could it be another genius move that has won them every Superbowl since 2001, oh wait..

And the Giants get Prince Amukamara with the 19th pick. Christmas came 8 months early this year for us fans. A big improvement on what can be considered the Giants weakest spot. Now if only they can play like they care all season and not just the first half.

Wow! Look at all of these panicked teams drafting QB's, because none of them know if they'll be able to trade for anyone better. Jake Locker to the Vikes is a total panic move and it never happens if the teams can actually trade for players.

My joy at the Vikings pick was erased at the Lions pick. I was already terrified of the Lions over the next 10 years, and this has only made it worse.

Locker went to the Titans. Christian Ponder went to the Vikes. Both moves make little, if any sense.

As far as the Giants go, I would have preferred Pouncey or Anthony Castonzo, they need to start bringing in fresh blood to the O-Line, they're starting to show their age, but Prince works too, so long as they try and snap up some linemen tomorrow.

After weeks of people saying the Bills were going to pick a QB (which I thought was pointless; Fitzpatrick was great last year) we DIDN'T PICK A QB. WE DRAFTED A POSITION OF NEED(!).

Marcell Dareus was one of the most versatile linemen in the draft, capable of 3-4 and 4-3. Comes from a good school know for good defensive coaching. I'm quite pleased!

All of this said....assuming the Patriots DON'T trade down I'd be happy if we pick Dalton.

You can't blame the Vikings for panicking and taking a QB (you can blame them for taking Ponder though). They have to plan not only for the present day Packers, but the future Lions. To make matters worse, the VERY NEXT PICK the Lions grab Fairley, who I'm sure will have a solid work ethic when being paired with a certain other defensive lineman.

Kudos to you Lions fans. A huge culture change happening over there, you have every right to be proud of the improvements. Packers vs Lions all of a SUHden has some teeth.

I don't know why I got those two mixed up, but you are definitely right that both moves made little to no sense. I must have been distracted by that face that Jon Gruden was making. What WAS that?

The Jags taking Gabbert was utterly brilliant. No sarcasm. He's going to make a great backup.

Falcons traded away most of this year's draft and a good chunk of next year's draft, but I'll be damned if I didn't sleep well last night knowing my team's offense now has Matt Ryan, Michael Turner, Jerious Norwood (I hope!), Roddy White, Julio Jones, and Tony Gonzales. That offense should be nearly unstoppable. Now we just need Arthur Blank to pony up for a good free agent on defense.

...hopefully in the short-term, because they didn't draft a guy 10th overall to be a backup permanently.

My head is still spinning from the Jags drafting Gabbert. I know many fans had their own signs of "DRAFT A QB OR WE RIOT" (another callback to ONS), but in the first round? Now we have no second round pick and have to address our porous defense in the third. I would've rather taken an impact defender in the first, then if necessary, traded up in the 2nd to get Dalton or Kaepernick, both of whom I like. I doubted Gene Smith last year, and he proved me wrong...so I hope he does it again.

And StaggerLee, ESPN is doing the same thing RE: showing players on their phones before the pick. I get that they want to show the emotion of the players, but it takes all the fun out of the Commish going to the podium for the pick.

Locker makes no sense because he sucks and has almost zero shot in my mind to be a good starter in the NFL. Ponder was taken early, but I'm confident he'll be a solid player so I don't get people crapping on that pick. His health is the only knock on him(though I've seen uninformed people pick at his arm strength, which when healthly is above average). I've always in my mind compared him to Rivers, just without that whole 'being a huge prick' thing. Given time, I think the Vikes will be pleased.

I don't get Kiper's obsession with Dalton. He was visibly pissed after Ponder was taken before Dalton, kept bringing it up. Maybe another of those rumored deals he makes with agents? I never saw enough from Dalton to suggest he's going to be a great pro.

Going to be funny when Cam and Locker are both busts and the guys taken after them succeed.

Jake Locker is the "good character"-version of Vince Young. The GM for the Titans used to work for the Seahawks so he is very familiar with Jake's body of work and skill set. I love the pick for them. (Also, I am a Jake Locker-fanboy.)

EDIT: Also, this...

...is utterly ridiculous. He was pretty much the only talented guy on Washington...by a LOT until last year. They were 0-12 the year Jake got hurt and made a bowl two years later, something I believe had only been done once before.

It will be fascinating to see how Jake does when he is surrounded by actual talent. And if they use Kerry Collins as a stop-gap for a while that will only help.

Yeah he played for a crap team, but it's not like his super accurate passes were getting dropped by terrible receivers. He was horribly inaccurate, made really bad decisions constantly and resorted to running too often(granted that last one can be blamed more on the team sucking). I saw him play a lot of games and never once said, "that looks like an NFL QB." If he turns into one, good for him. But I just don't see any reason to believe it will happen, and felt the same way before his horrible final college season when he was actually hyped by everyone.
