While I know the big record release for Tues. is "Busted Stuff", and as a devoted DMB fan I'm looking forward to it, may I just say that even more exciting news IMHO is the fact we are less than 24 hours away from the followup to the best album of 1999, "The Soft Bulletin", as the Flaming Lips are about to drop "Yoshimi" on a far too unprepared world. All I can say is hold your local record store owner hostage and make him open back up at midnight so you can fall asleep monday night/tues morning with Wayne Coyne's voice rattling about your brain.

As a side note, for those of us blessed enough to live in Chicagoland, The Hideout is having a big old Lips bash to celebrate the new album. Details can be found here but the important thing to note is anyone who comes in costume gets FREE BEER! I'll be there, and by God if you live anywhere near there, so should you!

I remember when DMB's "Crash" CD came out and Ear-X-Tacy had a midnight sale that Monday night for those who couldn't wait. Luckily, Paul Westerberg's "Eventually" dropped that same day and I was able to pick it up ASAP. Ahhh memories.

I saw the Lips here in town a few years ago and thought they put on an awesome show. They were back about a month and a half ago at our local Public Radio station and played a lot of stuff off the new album and did it "VH1 Storytellers" style, where they explained a lot of the inspiration for the songs. Pretty cool. A friend of mine is a big Lips fan, and I'm sure I'll hear plenty of it from him, so I'll wait a bit before I decide to buy.
