They stepped up and beat Wisconsin in the biggest game in school history, and proved they deserve at least a share of the national title.

Then again, it WAS just a win over a Big Ten school. For those keeping score, the Big Ten went 0-5 in today's bowl games. Ouch.

I let myself buy into Wisconsin after they combined for about 150 points in two games. All it takes is a good defense to stifle a good offense. I kept wondering why Wisconsin didn't just try and ram the ball down their throats more.

The difference between this game and Boise State beating Oklahoma a few years ago is that at least TCU had the sense to get themselves to a better conference. In a few years, TCU will run away with that automatic Big East bid while Boise State is toiling away in the Mountain West.

You're probably right, but they're not going to get it.

And Miami will dominate their division in the ACC now that they are leaving the Big East. And, it really isn't going to be fair for the other Big Ten schools once Penn State arrives and completely takes over. You turn the keys of the team over to one QB who doesn't work out and things can change quickly.

I mean, Wisconsin DID run for over 200 yards and Tolzien passed for 159, so I'd say the Badgers offense did come to play. They just (a) couldn't find the end zone enough and (b) made too many uncharacteristic mistakes. I was more worried about how Bucky's D would match up with TCU's offense rather than TCU's defense, and I guess I was right to. The Badgers D never impressed me this year, and TCU's offense is something they never really saw this year. I credit them for holding TCU to just 21 points though. Andy Dalton really impressed me. No excuses: TCU was the better team.

As much as I hated to see the Big Ten tank (again), I did have to smile watching MSU get dismantled after all the rancor they (and their fans) showed, thinking they should've made the Rose Bowl.

I would also like to give congratulations TCU for shutting down the late bullies of the Big Ten. I am sure besides Boise State, a few Big Ten coaches sent texts to the TCU coach. I don't know if TCU will dominate the Big East, but I am sure they will do well. I would also like to say how much I enjoyed the Irish dismantling the U. What a great way to end the year.

The Big Ten looked like a joke in most of their games. PSU and Northwestern at least put up a fight. Now, its up to The Ohio State to stop the shut out. Which I am sure for Big Ten times is a double edge sword. They won't get shut out, but the team that will stop will increase the arrogance of a fanbase who are already act like the Big Ten revolves arond them.

That Rose Bowl was fun to watch - probably the most fun of the New Year's Day games. That said, why is it always such a big deal every year how the Big Ten does in bowl games? It doesn't seem like there's a big to-do when the SEC starts the bowl season 0-3, or if the ACC goes 1-4. What's the big obsession with how the Big Ten does in bowl games?

That's not defensive homerism, either, because it still feels like we're the first +1 in the Big 10+1+1. It's just general curiosity. If the announcers in every single game hadn't mentioned 957 times that the Big Ten was winless in the postseason, it probably wouldn't have even registered with me. All that registered with me yesterday was we [PSU] pulled one quarterback earlier this season for "poor play", but let the other one throw 8 INTs (5 completed) without so much as letting Bolden warm up...

It's probably because the Big Ten president is one of the biggest anti-playoff proponents, plus the Big Ten's teams always seem to be ranked higher than they should in preseason polls.

I saw plenty of people comment on the SEC starting 0-3 in bowls this year. Then they won three in a row and people moved on.

And btw, the Big 10 isn't winless in bowl games this year. Iowa and Illinois got them started at 2-0 before Saturday's disaster.

Even the Packers beating Da Bears to make the playoffs didn't fully take the taste of that Rose Bowl outta my mouth come Monday.

1st Rose Bowl loss for UW since 1963. Way to not execute, Bucky. And what in the blue hell was with that passing play call on the 2-point conversion attempt to tie!? Uh, Coach Bielema...you just RAN IT DOWN THEIR THROATS. Do that again.

I swear, Mike McCarthy was proud of that one.

Ye Gods, this sucks. But yes, congrats to TCU. Clearly they are the real deal.

Now hurry up with those playoffs, Mr. President!

I wouldn't have minded a run there, but TCU's D looked ready for it. And to be fair, Pedersen was wide open in the end zone...if the pass were a couple inches to the left or right, no questions at all about it. Give Carder credit, heckuva play there.

Boise's going to be just fine, False. It's only a matter of time before the Pac-1X finds their primary partner to create a Western superconference, and when that happens, Boise is guaranteed to be along for the ride. (And in the meantime, it will get to reign over the non-AQs without any real challenger to its throne.)
