We got a PS3 in the house for Christmas - what games should I get for it. I know about Call of Duty and Red Dead Redemption and the popular stuff but I am looking for things I probably haven't heard of.

I am looking for stuff my wife might like - if not to play but to at least watch.

Also we have two daughters (8 and 3) what are some games that they might be into?

Thanks.

I loved Infamous - a third-person free-roaming superhero/villain game. It's priced as a Greatest Hits game now.

For the kids, I'd look at the Katamari Damacy games.

For the kids, the Sly Collection was recently released. LOVED those games when they first came out. On sale at Kmart for $20. Unfortunately for me, no KMarts within 50 miles of here.

That game was stupendous. I can't wait for the sequel.

I've heard really great things about Vanquish and Heavy Rain. They're in my GameFly queue, but I haven't gotten to them yet.

Grand Theft Auto IV is a greatest hits game, too, and is well worth your time if you haven't played it. And I can't speak for the three year-old but the nearly eight-year old in my house LOVES Rock Band.

I picked up a PS3, too...and I got Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix. It's an excellent remake of an excellent game.

I'd also recommend Little Big Planet, Uncharted 2, and Pac-Man Championship DX, which is on the PSN download service.

I [heart] my PS3.

Little Big Planet is a good suggestion. LBP2 is a few weeks from coming out, I think you get the original pretty cheap at this point. The Ratchet & Clank games are fun challenging all ages games as well. I would guess the PS Move + Sports Champions would be good for all ages, but still haven't tried it.

Batman: Arkham Asylum is a great open world game, though that's maybe not for the kids. The original Uncharted is good as well (though the 2nd is better.)

A good place to look: PS3's Greatest Hits re-releases. A lot of good games, all should be available for deep discount prices at this point.

Uncharted 2 is such an improvement over the first one, that while they're both worth playing, going from 1 to 2 will be a much easier transition than from 2 to 1.

Anyhow, the most underrated game on PS3 from 2010 has to be Alpha Protocol, which has some clunky controls but otherwise has some of the best writing and voice acting I've ever seen in a video game.

Yeah, you should get the wife to watch Uncharted 2. She'll think it's a real movie.

This is the truth. I got it for Christmas. Plus, if you suck at the game like I do, she'll have fun laughing at you.

Oddly enough, my fiancee gets very excited and screams when I fall or when something happens during the game. It's very, very good.

On a side note...I downloaded Mortal Kombat II - and the lag is HORRIBLE when playing online. Avoid at all costs.

Play Uncharted 1 first, it is a good game, but will not be nearly as awesome if you play 2 first.

Fallout 3 - Tons of replay value

Arkham Asylum - Best Superhero game ever

Resistance 1 and 2 are kind of looked down on by the Halo snobs, but are fun games and have a MUCH better story.

Bioshock 1 & 2 - Awesome storyline. 2 gets crap for not reinventing the wheel, but I thought it was awesome.

To echo what was previously said, InFamous is great. LBP is a fun game for every type of gamer. I love Uncharted, highly recommend the series. Sly Collection is a good investment. The God of War series is a must-play (not for the kids of course). Any Street Fighter is going to be good because of the PS controller. I also had a good amount of fun with Mod Nation Racers. And if you can get a good deal on it, NBA Jam is just as much fun as you remember.

-3D Dot Game Heroes. Throwback to games like the 1st Zelda, Crystalis, Neutopia, etc...

-Borderlands. A Mad Max inspired cel-shaded FPS with light MMO elements. Just don't let the kids play it.

My only complaint with Pacman Champion DX is that there's no actual original Pacman game. I would have loved a retro arcade game to go along with it. Is it an easter egg, perhaps?

Agreed. It may be unlockable though. I'm still opening everything up.

They also need an online mode where you can either be Pac-Man, or a ghost chasing Pac-Man.

A ghost chasing Pac Man? Ingenius!

Another game to suggest: any of the Motorstorm series. If you like offroad racing games on steroids, then you found your utopia.

I can also recommend the Hot Shots Golf game that came for the system.

So many things you could do with Pac-Man in 2011.

-Multiplayer with Pac-Man Vs Ms. Pac-Man to see who could eat the most dots/ghosts.

-1st person Pac-Man

-Original games unlockable with new levels.
