Moffat is such a wonderful sentimentalist.

This follows wonderfully after The Doctor Dances, Girl in Fireplace and most of the first season of Matt Smith.

I bet the super Who nerds will pick apart all the timey wimey parts, and completely miss the point.

And wow, Katherine Jenkins, so talented and so breathtakingly beautiful.

Awesome episode. I loved all the shots at the new Star Trek movie with the LED lights, I-Mac Set and the fact it was a Galaxy Class starship. I thought it was one of the better Christmas specials with all the heart warming sentimentality the fact that they ended it was a dark forbidding was nice. Loved seeing Amy in the Police Girl outfit.

When it started, I thought the guy at the comm was Richard E Grant, a former (sort of) Doctor.

One issue I have with the premise: here we have the Doctor, a genius in many fields, with access to a machine capable of traveling in time and space. How could he not find someone able to treat whatever was wrong with Abigail?

A few theories on that. Its been pseudo establish the Tardis tends to go where its needed, so he might not be able to find someone to cure her. Plus, she never said anything about dying until the end and only to Karzden. The Doctor rewrote a lot of history with this episode one would argue almost as much as he did with Waters of Mars and we all remember how well that went. Allowing her to live might be one step too far. Its not like her life would be that well off if she lived. She is stuck with a handicapped older man, she isn't a playboy bunny or something. He might have done if off screen as well, but there seemed to be a lot of tech on that world the Doctor couldn't figure out, so the disease is probably as daunting. Even with all the theories, we are missing the main point which the disease was used for an emotional plot point that really did payoff.
