So Stevie Visor goes to coach the Skins, and they eat the last 3 years of Schottenheimer's contract. First order of business for Spurrier: Trade for Danny Wuerffel. Then go out and get Jacquez Green and Reidel Anthony. Draft Jabar Gaffney and start playing basketball on grass up at FedEx field. Hey, it could work. At least get rid of Tony "Smallest Hands in the league" Banks.

This situation reminds me a lot of Rick Pitino going to the Celtics. Successful college coach, won a championship in '96, always rumors of him leaving, huge contract when he leaves. The only major difference besides the sports is that Pitino had head coaching experience at the pro level. They have the same coaching styles (Run & Gun, Fun & Gun), they both have an angry sideline temperment. So that leads me to believe that Spurrier will give up after a couple years and come back to take Bobby Bowden's place at Florida's rival, FSU. Well, okay, that won't happen, but it would be funny.

I don't know that Wuerfel belongs to anyone, he played in the preseason for the Bears but I don't know if he made the team even though I thought he played well. So they could just sign him as a free agent or trade for Shane Matthews, or Doug Johnson if he's still anywhere.

And if you're going to get anyone from the Bucs i'd probably get Kenyatta Walker before Green or Anthony. If I wanted some ex-Florida players i'd get Travis Taylor (Ravens), Ike Hilliard (Giants), Fred Taylor (Jaguars), and Jevon Kearse (Titans) and Gerrard Warren (Browns). And while Gaffney and Caldwell are good I think i'd the defense route on drafting Florida players and get Lito Sheppard, Alex Brown, and Andra Davis. And offensive lineman Mike Pearson if he decided to leave early too.

If that crazy owner of the Redskins would actually let the coach he picks coach for more than a year, maybe he'd get better results? The damn kid needs to just leave things around. Schottenheimer's a good coach, probably the only person on that team who had any merit. But now he's going to fire him, bring in Visor - and what? - fire him after 8 weeks? Ten? Or maybe he'll get to finish the season.

Hell, I don't care. I hate the Redskins anyway.

GO EAGLES~!

As a LSU fan, I hate Steve Visor, so it is a good thing that I never really liked the Redskins......

I believe the Bears still have Wuerffel as their 3rd QB. And I am looking forward to Spurrier in the NFL, the first time he realizes he can't take away someone's scholarship if they don't play well. I don't see this working out well, for the same reasons mentioned in the Pitino paralell. It's not like Spurrier can cherry pick all the very best players just for his team like he did at FU. Suddenly he can only get 1 or 2 studs a year, instead of 10-15 or so to reload every season. Really, anyone on this board could coach the FU teams with that talent to a 8-3 mark at least.

There, I feel better now.

But he was the only Gator coach in 90 years(off an on) of football to ever win the SEC. In 12 years he won it 6 times(actually 7). He also won the ACC with Duke. DUKE!.

Sure the talent level at Florida makes it easy to win, but he was responsible for bringing that talent into Gainesville. Before him they went to UM or FSU.

I'm not saying he's not a very good coach. I just think the level of skill involved is somewhat overestimated. I'd hire Spurrier as an O coordinator before I'd think of him as a head coach for the NFL.

There, I feel better now.

I think Spurrier was a coach in the USFL when that was a "professional" league. I know this would be like saying that Pitino coached in the CBA, but still, it's something.

I think I could get Florida to at least 9-2 and SEC champs. I mean, come on, I coached the Bears to the Super Bowl on Madden '98 with Rick Mirer as the quarterback.

Well if you're going to count Madden, I once took the Saints to the Super Bowl with Danny Wuerfel.

Also I won the National Championship once with the Mighty Akron Zips in NCAA College Football 2001
