I think it would be really cool to be a ref. Sometimes I think it would be more fun than being a wrestler, actually. Especially if you have the experience of Earl Hebner and get to be involved in all the major happenings.

And I'm surprised they are actual advertising for employees.

I would apply solely to be called "Blind" [insert your name here] by CRZ.

So who is actually applying? I wouldn't be against sending my resume just to see what would happen.

i have ZERO exp of being a ref, but i'm a life long wrestling fan, but i doubt they'd take me over an indy ref sending an app.

Yeah, if I had any experience at all in the wrestling ring, I'd probably apply.

This is my probably my second favourite job choice were I to actually go into wrestling (first being PBP announcer) but now I shall list the big reasons I'm not applying:

1) Probably older than they're looking for
2) Not in cardio shape [and unwilling to go into training to get back there :)]
3) Most importantly, unable to absorb the inevitable pay cut which would differentiate the job I've currently got and that one

I think there's a more important question here, and that is: which refs are they letting go? I can't see them needing MORE without some disappearing first. I know Tim White has been there something like twenty years - maybe his shoulder injury is career-threatening? Earl Hebner's been there probably about that long as well. Jack Doan debuted at WM9 after a long stint as a ring attendant, so he's over a decade. And Mike Chioda used to have the best permed mullet in the business! I can't see any of these guys quitting.

Come to think of it, I haven't seen Teddy Long for nearly a month...hmmmmmm?

CRZ, comparing you to the ages of most the refs currently on the roster you are very young by comparison. Why would you say age would be a factor in your case?

The not being in shape thing is a better reason, but don't they have some refs with a bit of a gut?

Do you think they are necessarily hiring refs for WWE TV. Could be refs for their farm systems, couldn't it?

Hey, I've been out of work for seven months(anybody out there need a good administrative assistant?)and have been considering a change of career. If I only had a shard of experience, I'd consider applying!

Hmm. "Blind Diva". That'd work. What the hell, if I ever decide to stop doing opera/operetta/classical music, I can keep the name and become a blues singer.

Folks, unless I am mistaken, the add does not mention any experience being necessary. The WWE has shown a willingness in the past to work with people who are not in the business. Give it a try!

But DivaKind the real question is how do you look in one of those Jaqualine ref shirts?

I just sent in my resume. Sure, I have no true wrestling experience, but I was the Syracuse University mascot for three years. I think that's about as close to getting the right kind of experience as you can get without wrestling school. Plus, I'm local.

Unless you count substitute teaching (which isn't full time), I've been unemployed since last September. I've got nothing to lose.

At 5'6" I never thought I'd be a wrestler, but I have definitely dreamed of being a ref (or a booker/writer). Wish me luck!

...dammit, if only I wasn't going back to school in a month and a half, I'd apply. Relatively local and all, but I do believe it requires traveling. >_<

I applied, and I have reffing experience in a small indy.

Harder job than it looks. Plus we don't have the whole "road agent telling you what to do in with the earpiece" concept, so I can only imagine.

Amazing how far a scam can go! I believe Hyatte on 411wrestling brought up an example a couple of weeks ago.

I missed the add and I think I'm to big to be a ref. Other than Nick Patrick most those guys are pretty small. If I had a choice of job in wrestling I would go with Funky. I always thought that being a Stevie Richards type flunky looked like a lot of fun. That or a character development type deal, fuck being a booker/writer.
