Caught the premiere earlier today and while not too many men watch, I thought I'd post a review, if for no other reason, than maybe we can bring a few bucks to The W through some Amazon links. If anyone else is like me, this show will have them running for MP3's by the end of the show. (See bottom)

The opening was more than enough reason to stick around, even with poor Kurt getting yet another slushie to the face.

The big twist to this season looks to be the addition of a new mutual foil for Will and Sue in the form of Coach Beist. By far, the episode's best moment was watching Sue try and work her intimidation magic, only to get taken down by a nonsensical response. And even if Will made things right at the end, watching the Sue/Beist feud develop should be fun.

The other new cast members should be interesting, but the cast is already pretty big and now we're in danger of adding too many chickens to the pot. Although I do like the idea of a doppleganger Finn, right down to Finn finding him the exact same way Will found Finn in the pilot episode.

Everything with the Cheerios was entertaining from start to finish, from Sue's entire exchange with Santana over her boob job ("I can't take my eyes off of them. I'm actually TALKING to them right now!") to the catfight with Quinn afterwards and Brittany's monotone "Stop the violence."

Loved the music this week, even if "Empire State of Mind" has been played TO DEATH. It's my first exposure to "Billionaire" and I did like it.

Good start to the new season. Although I'm surprised that they're already going to gimmick shows right off the bat with next week's Britney Spears episode.

THIS EPISODE'S iTUNES AMAZON SONG LIST

It was good, but not great. I was hoping for a little more depth to the Rachel character after the stuff with her mom last season, but nope, still shallow as hell.

I've been watching Charice for a few years on The Filipino Channel, so it was kind of surreal to see her here. I'm surprised she was shuffled off so fast. (Well, not THAT surprised. She really can't act.)

I guess there was no room for Emma Pilsbury. Not even a throwaway explanation like Ken Tanaka got. (Though, from the looks of things on IMDB, she's back next week.)

I'm prety sure Charice will be around for some time. She's cure, but man...those glasses were terrible.

I'm a sucker for the show - I'm taken by how much fun it is, and the music is catchy, too. I can't say I liked the bathroom singing though...I never did care for the "digital manipulation" in music. Didn't like it when Cher did it in BELIEVE, still don't like it now.

I unabashedly love this show. Even though it has a bunch of issues because the storytelling is so disjointed, the music selection is always pretty good and I like the characters. Especially Brittany.

The opening montage checking off basically every issue anybody had with the show last season (Lea Michelle's ego, "You mean the kids don't like when I rap?!", etc.) was a brilliant little tongue in cheek way to start the new season.

I haven't really formed an opinion on the new charactes. Unless Charice goes back to New Directions she'd only be in half the season, right? Because I get the feeling that they're going to win Regionals this year. Coach Beiste fills basically the exact same role as Ken Tanaka except as a woman.

I'm calling it now: The new quarterback kid saying he doesn't want anybody to think he's gay means that he actually is gay and is our potential love interest for Kurt.

The bad:
The closing song was the worst song choice this show has ever had. Good song, good singer, bad moment. In a musical the moment is as important as anything. It wasn't even narcissistic just nonsensical.

Storyline wise: This group deserved to have Jesse kick their ass last year, and they look to deserve it this year too. Mercedes and Kurt should have got to that girl as soon as Rachel told them about her.

I like Billionaire, but the autotune on the original is obvious and on the Glee version it feels like a fritzing banshee robot is tonguing my ear.

The good:
It really takes balls to have characters make as many bad decisions as were in this episode. Even if the choices were in character (like most of these were) most shows won't go there.

"See these? Court summons for Child Endangerment."

Sue getting shutdown by Biest was a perfect illustration of the scientific law that a jock's confident delivery will always triumph over wit, sense, and all else in a verbal exchange.

I also enjoy watching Glee, and had fun with the primere. The only songs I recognized were Every Rose Has It's Thorn and Getting to Knwo You.

I still enjoyed the performances on the show especially Empire State of Mind.

The opening bit was hilarious.

I thought that dismissed Sunshine a little too quickly, but I loved the line "Rachel would have made my life a living hell"

I'm also surprised that Schuster made up with Beiste so quickly, I figured it would have dragged out a couple of episodes.

And could they have made Beiste look any more like Tanaka in drag?
