Having my first go-around with this OS setting up a new PC and NAS device for my parents (I'm still using XP on my own machines). I'm trying to set up the folder structure so that the key parts of each profile and the Public area (Documents, Music, Pictures, Videos) are pointing to areas on the NAS rather than the hard drive, so that they can be accessible throughout my parents' home network without having to manage multiple copies of the data. (The NAS has dual hard drives set up in RAID 1, so backup is taken care of.)

Anyways, I've been successful using this method (hubpages.com) on the folders in the user profiles, but less so on the folders in the Public area. When I get to the Location tab, the buttons below the path are missing and I cannot edit the path by typing. I'm logged in with the only administrator account on the machine, so my guess is I've run into some stupid limitation of the OS that can only be dealt with via a registry hack or something. Anyone out there who's more familiar with the OS than I am who might have a handle on how to do this?

EDIT: Fixed link.

It's not an OS limitation as far as I can tell, I have the buttons you're missing on my installs of Windows 7. They are all Windows 7 Ultimate version and I'm logged in as a Domain Admin on my home network. Since you are logged in as an admin as well, I'd take a guess that maybe it's the version of the OS? Maybe.

I know the OS version is Home Premium, so if it is the version of the OS causing the problem, it's still a limitation of the OS, just an intentional one to fry my biscuits. *sighs*
