Filmmaker Wolfgang Petersen (The Perfect Storm) has signed on to direct the long-in-the-works Batman vs. Superman feature. "It is a clash of the titans," he tells Variety of the 2004 release, which finds the two superheroes coming to blows over their differing philosophies. "They play off of each other so perfectly... They are two sides of the same coin and that is material for great drama." Casting is underway for the two leads.
Let me go on the record early and say this is not a good thing, it's a bad thing.

- Dracula vs. Superman. The climactic scene would be Dracula holding kryptonite and Superman holding a cross. Something's got to give.
- Batman vs. Predator. High-tech weaponry vs. bat-gadgets.
- Freddy Krueger vs. Wolverine. The battle of the retractable claws.

I can understand villian vs. villian or villian vs. hero-- but shouldn't Batman and Superman both be on the same side?
Plus, no matter which one of them wins, you'll piss off half your audience when someone loses.

Much like the early post-Crisis storyline crossovers between the two, I bet it'll be more of a case where Batman and Superman will have to work together but will clash over their differing methods (Superman being all goddy-two-shoes and Batman being a little more into ULTRA-VIOLENCE~!).
If they actually did have a fight, surely Superman would punch Batman once with his super strength and he'd be dead. Not much of a movie there methinks. .

They should. Then the movie could have the subtitle of, "BATTLE OF THE STUPID LOOKING PLASTIC NIPPLES OF DOOM!", which would instantly make the movie worth watching. | thesporq

Anyways, nothing on screen could even match the Superman/Batman animated movie that was done a couple of years ago.

You're a prophet... Matt Damon has just announced on IMDB that he's been asked to be either Superman or Batman. Yes, he can take his pick.
Oh my god...
I'm with the "this is no contest!" crowd. Superman would kick his ass to Cybertron. If they want a real battle, why not do Ghost Rider vs. Spawn? Or not. | Lumpy

One or two of the Robocops are proof enough that Frank Miller involvement certainly wouldn't guarantee a quality movie, but you didn't like the original "Dark Knight Returns"?(I haven't read the new Strikes Back things or much about them, as I didn't like the idea of picking up on it, so that might help in my still liking Dark Knight Returns.) Or just the sans-arm Green Arrow?
Somewhat related to the topic at hand, there's a shot in the trailers for "The Road to Perdition" that has me convinced that Jude Law would be the perfect Joker. It's a quick shot of him sitting down, looking up towards the camera. |
