I wouldn't bomb the show. If this were showing on some random channel every week, I would tune in when nothing was on.
If nothing else it's going to be better than the ECW show they run 3-5 years from now.

| #22 Posted on 9.8.10 1431.10 Reposted on: 9.8.17 1431.17 | As sad as the show was, I can't hate that these guys got one last payday and one more time in front of an appreciative audience. It would be nice if they could all be Francine and say "hey, thanks for thinking of me, I had a great time and have some great memories, but I've moved on with my life and I'm happy now" but they're not all going to do that, so what the heck. Nothing wrong with letting the old-timers know they're appreciated.
I think I just blame TNA for doing this when they had to half-ass it - they couldn't say "ECW," they didn't have Heyman or Styles, they couldn't use a lot of the names, they couldn't use WWE-contracted guys, it was in Orlando, they didn't give guys enough notice to get back into shape, they ran a tribute to the dead guys without naming names, they had to throw matches together based on who was available, etc. They called it a tribute, but it was just a cash-in. A real tribute (or at least a quality cash-in) would have been done properly. | thecubsfan

This is probably accurate.
So the ones that think it is a good idea come up with the idea of an ECW PPV, hoping that it will bomb
This is probably not. They did the ECW PPV because they thought it'd be an increase in buys. It's really tough for any PPV TNA does to be considered a bomb compared to the other ones, there's not that far left to drop. But they sincerely expect it to be their highest bought show in some time (and appear to be right.) | JustinShapiro

My theory is the ECW PPV was serving a purpose of allowing TNA to honour their PPV commitments whilst still leaving them with a stacked "TNA" card to test their TV special idea. In that sense it was a no-lose situation for TNA really. The PPV will probably pop a higher than usual (not saying much) buyrate and their "real" PPV card that nobody would have bought anyway may pop enough of a rating to convince Spike the TV specials are the way forward. | Torchslasher

| #26 Posted on 11.8.10 0046.13 Reposted on: 11.8.17 0047.08 | I enjoyed this PPV more than I thought I would. There were some "sad" moments, but mostly the nostalgia worked for me (as it worked for me with One Night Stand and other "remember ECW" shows). To be fair, I watched plenty and went to plenty of ECW shows back in the 90's, so it was easier for me to enjoy this for what it was.
I thought seeing Sabu try in vain to have a competitive match with RVD would have been sad, but Sabu mostly hit all his spots and looked good. The Dreamer/Raven stuff was sad though, as well as bad and boring and possibly emotionally damaging to Dreamer's kids and all of us. Ugh.
What I enjoyed about this show is that it didn't have to take itself seriously the whole time. They could have spots like the dance-off and the lightsaber duel and still give us decent matches with emotion. I think this is where the "fun" that Lotjx talked about came from. And if you didn't think it was fun (A. Cochran), then you didn't and that is fine.
And no, I wouldn't put this PPV above Wrestlemania.
