Brock Lesner is slowly getting more and more over but surely is first real storyline test is how they're going to finish his streak, Goldberg, Angle all lost momentum at this point. Should he go into Summerslam undefeated or angered/challenged by a loss?

I think the direction to go would be the latter and have him either turn face or take the title. Any idea who could get the victory?

I think perhaps Jeff Hardy following on in his challenge the unbetable (with some help from UT). It'd probably get them both over.

Eh, Angle losing gained him more momentum in my eyes. It wasn't quite the fact that he lost, but that he bitched about it ALL the time and he was better for he loss.

Also, I can't quite remember, didn't he go on to continue to say he was unbeaten AFTER his loss to Tazz at the Rumble, with help from Steve Blackman who came out and kendo'd Angle's opponents at the time, allowing him to get some wins over the likes of the Rock? I can't remember.

Blackman was sent out to help Angle by Steph in Dec 99/Jan 00 to help protect Kurt as she had a bit of a thing for him. This pissed off HHH, who declared if Blackman caned any of Angle's oppenents again, he would fire him. So he caned Angle for a DQ.

Tazz did not beat Angle because of his use of an "illegal choke hold" in the Rumble match. Angles first official defeat was to The Rock.

Is it sad I remember all of this?

yes, yes it is.

Back on topic. Lesnar should not lose to anyone who is not named Angle, Rock, RVD, or Undertaker. As to him losing before SummerSlam, well if it would lead to RVD getting his title shot at UT and a Brock/Rock matchup, I'm all for it.

It's not sad. I remember it all clearly. It's if you forget it like the WWF hopes and don't have long-term storyline memory that it becomes sad.

I think that's more from the perspective of WWF revisionist history than anything else. They tend to skew the facts for the sake of creating a "moment" (ala Hogan-Andre)

The Angle-Tazz match at RR was never officially reversed on TV by the referee or any official that I can remember. Angle always claimed that the loss didn't count because of the choke, but that's just the character talking out of his ass to make himself look good, which both Angle & Jericho do great. As far as I can tell, though, the decision in that match still counted, just not from Angle's perspective.

When The Rock pinned Angle in that 3-way match, the announcers DID play it up as if The Rock ended Angle's streak. That was more to put The Rock over at the time, I guess, and to end Angle's "That loss didn't count!" angle so that the writers could move on with Angle's character without putting Tazz even more over than he was when he debuted.

On the Royal Rumble 2000 DVD, when Angle's being examined by the EMTs, they tell him that he was choked unconscious.

"That's illegal, I'm still undefeated!" he says.

But with all the "illegal" shit that occurs on a regular basis, it'd be kinda silly if they reversed that decision.

I think it should be someone not on that list. Booker T. He's right on the edge of being a main event face. A clean win over Lesnar could push him up into Undisputed Title shots, merchandise selling, etc.

Brock won't lose until Summerslam when The Rock goes over him cleanly. Barely, but cleanly. He'll probably turn face sometime around then, too.

I WONDER: Hmmm, if they put the IC title on Brock at Vengeance, and then make the Summerslam match for both belts, maybe, just maybe, whoever goes over there can drop the belt on Smackdown...

That's a great idea, ya little Bastard (a pun!). This could be a great opportunity to get a secondary title to Smackdown w/o trading a talent.

I know they're trying to avoid the Lesner/Goldberg comparisons, but a match could be booked against Kevin Nash, since Nash was the first man to beat Goldberg.

That is a good idea. I feel that any time the IC champ takes on the World champ the IC champ should have to forfeit the title. As soon as the WWF announced that the Warrior was going to forfeit the title I knew that he would beat Hogan at WM6. Any other time in WCW or WWF when the secondary champ took on the world champ the world champ one. Wait GB beat Hogan but that is the only one I can think of.
With all the new guys on SD it could be a good oppurtunity for them to show off Orton, Cena, and the rest. Plus I like tournaments. Which was the only good thing about WCW at the end. They were stripping all the belts every other week.

Yeah, there hasn't been a tournament for a title in the WWF since the IC Title tourney in 1997 when Austin broke his neck and was stripped. If they do that though, I am begging them to save RAW vs Smackdown for the finals.

There are about 5 Zimmermans on the board now. None of them are related to Chris or I as far as I know.

Eh. It's not all that confusing.

That's to end a slump, not a streak. In baseball, that's called a "slumpbuster."

And after some of the bullets I've taken on Friday nights, at least a couple of Milwaukee Brewers oughta be hitting .350...eh, nevermind.

Next night on RAW (from the slash archives):
"You know - that's a shame. That kind of stuff should not happen. That's bad. But let me tell you something that's REALLY bad. Last night, at the Royal Rumble, your Olympic hero experienced something that he has never in his life experienced before. No, it was not defeat; not by any means. It was something much worse." We cut back and forth between the stretcher's journey and Angle. "It has to do with honour - you see, I have documents - documents, and written letters from wrestling officials, not to mention the International Olympic Committee, and even doctors that state that last night was an illegal hold by my so-called unnamed opponent - it was. Now, it is to my understanding that it's not really his fault. [We see the stretcher being loaded into an ambulance] I mean, he appears to be some sort of street thug that, perhaps, was not brought up the right way, and, in turn, lacks integrity - one of my three I's. So all I wanted to do tonight is clear the air, and say that no apologies are needed for last night, and to also say to all of you not to worry, because your Olympic hero's undefeated streak is still intact."

Royalrumble.com says in it's results history that Tazz defeated Angle. Now let this silly argument come to rest.
