The various new characters all add something to the film, which is nice. As with a lot of people my age I'm sure who have grown up with the series, I cried through the end.

I chose not to see it in 3D, at least on opening weekend. I figured a 2D theatre would be a lot less packed than a 3D theatre. I was right, though it was still a pretty full house for Friday at 5:30 p.m. I imagine I'll be back in a few weeks to check it out in 3D though. | The King of Keith

Just got back from seeing this with my oldest.
1. Wow, this movie was incredible.
2. I expected more out of the 3d experience. Nothing really pop out of the screen type of experience. Added lots of depth to the background though. I compare it to watching a 3D dvd on an LCD (Coraline comes to mind).
Shell out the cash for the movie. Hold on the 3d. Whatever your choice, either way the movie is great. | Mr Heel II

You'd think that print was weeks old with the amount of dirt and streaking. It was like the "Grindhouse" effect, but for real.
TS3 was awesome. What an emotional finish. One of the best ever.

Heck, I want to know where this is simply because I love single screen theatres. I quite dislike those thirty whatever screen houses - there's no character in them.
But yeah - TS3 rocked. Loved it - and it was well worth the wait between 2 and 3. | General Zod

Osage, IA. The theatre is the Watts Theatre. But the Hardee's thing can't be limited to just them because they have modern window signage promoting them. Somebody else told me the Coralville, IA one has them back now. Seems to be hit-or-miss. The Des Moines ones sure don't.

| #16 Posted on 26.6.10 1343.51 Reposted on: 26.6.17 1343.57 | I finally saw it last night. It's one of those movies I was really happy they made and really sad that it had to end. It really does hammer home the bitter reality that time goes on, kids grow up, and not every toy can be saved. Hearing about Bo Peep's fate was particularly saddening.
But aside from giving the series closure, this movie's really going to hold up well in future viewings, just because it's such an awesome prison break flick. It actually justifies a second go-around at the theater and you can't say that about too many movies these days. | Scottyflamingo

I recently saw 1 and 2 prior to seeing 3. I canlt say I can pick a favorite which is why it is the best Trilogy ever. 1 and 2 were in the conversation of best movie and sequel (Godfather, Alien(s), etc.). But with 3, the Toy Story Trilogy stands alone. | odessasteps

Well, the similarities are kind of superficial, but I consider that episode--which is also the "Screetcar Named Desire" musical episode--to quite possibly be the best sitcom episode ever, so I can't get too upset about the comparison.
I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, and I was crying through the end. Definitely not top 5 Pixar, though. Honestly, I'm not sure ANY of the Toy Story movies make it--Wall-E is definitely number one for me, and Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, and Up are also there, not necessarily in that order. The original TS probably beats out Monsters Inc or Ratatouille for the last spot, but it's close.
Have to give special mention to the Star Wars reference in the dumpster scene near the end. Nice. Also have to say I really liked the short, Day & Night, although I have to think it went over the heads of the kids.
The next Pixar film will be...Cars 2? Say it ain't so! Cars was by far to me the least essential Pixar film ever, so I don't like the idea of a sequel, and I *definitely* don't like the idea that the next non-sequel Pixar film won't be here until 2012. |
