I loved how both he and Regal both were grinning and nodding with affirmation to Bryan before Punk did the hand motion.

This is the 2nd episode I have saw (this one and the last one) and I have to agree, it was awesome seeing the pros up on stage and being very entertaining.

It gave the show some credibility in the sense "Hey look, the pros are actually out there watching and evaluating" and it gives the fans something. I have alot of pro football fans that HATE college football because they don't want to watch a "bunch of nobodies". For those fans, they at least got to be entertained by what sounded like very candid and off the cuff remarks by the pros.

Very enjoyable episode and I will have to add it to my DVR now.

I agree that they keep the feud going, but when it comes time for the match, it should be Danielson vs Striker. A "match" with Cole would BLOW. But with Striker being recruited on his behalf, it would work. Maybe Danielson will keep berating Cole week to week and Striker is getting more and more fed up with his attacks, disrupting his show.

This was a heel turn. It may not get over as a heel turn, but that's the idea.

I'm going to go with "no", based on seeing the promo. Although Cole might not have been physically provoking Bryan, he's been needling him on commentary pretty much the entire season, for no apparent reason. It's like saying either Miz or Jables were going face due to the latter's absolute loathing of the former on commentary. Either Cole's a heel on NXT or they're both faces who hate each other. Doesn't necessarily mean Bryan's going heel. (Besides, Regal/Punk were egging him on against a fellow heel.) Who knows, maybe the angle plays out with Bryan earning Cole's respect. Or the WWE debut of the newly-renamed Cole Mutilation.

(Of course, I reserve the right to change my mind after next week's show. )

Couldn't it be argued that Cole was moving towards being a heel off his comments regarding the shift of the US Title on RAW the previous evening? At the very least, could there be collusion between Miz and Cole?

Was Joey Styles turning heel when he did pretty much the exact same angle with Jerry Lawler? (He wasn't.) Sure, that was a non-wrestler attacking an old wrestler, but Lawler was a lot more clearly defined as a face there than Cole is here.

The real problem I have with it is that it's so completely out of nowhere based on Danielson's promo last week, down to no longer harping on the name thing. I guess being eliminated from NXT really changes a man. It's clear that they're just making things up as they go along. (What a shock, amirite.)

Well there is the 'interesting' bit where Cole started going nuts about Bret winning the U.S. championship and how he shouldn't have been in that spot let alone win it.
That came out of left field, and was very close to the way he whines about Daniel Bryan.

He wasn't, but I don't remember Styles pie facing Jerry Lawler and security having to pull Styles off.

The promo could've gone either way, but it turns into something else when he's starts bullying a non-wrestler.

I still think the difference is people watching the show see Cole as a heel, but people writing the show think he's a ultra-honest face. Cole isn't supposed to be an out of touch heel, he's a badly defined face being fed lines by people who are themselves out of touch.

Maybe they'll change their plans, but it seems to me that people are wishing for a story that's not about to be told.

(I think it means the Miz thing is going to get unsatisfactory resolved, if resolved at all.)

Its about a month too late to help Danielson and a month early to help Cole being a heel. The Miz/Cole relationship would have merit if they actually did something more then have Cole rip on Bryan. I think they are trying to turn Cole heel, but they have no one to really replace him since JR is on the outs. Its more of a mess right now then an interesting storyline.

Danielson attacking Michael Cole...? Awesome moment. But the entire rant would probably be too "inside" for casual fans to really understand, right?

If NXT was on at a decent time here in Canada, I'd watch it.

EDIT: I caught the footage on Youtube.

No, Randy is well documented as "insane". We've included that whole IUD IED problem within storyline. Whether heel or face, part of his backstory is that he variously goes explosively out of control on people due to random provocation. Part of "Guest Hosting Raw for Dummies" must surely address not getting too close to the crazy people, with Kane & Orton at the top of that list.

BD-Son-Son has been portrayed as humble, internet darling, babyface, nice guy, good sport, etc. For that kind of character to leave the ring, chase down an announcer who's trying to get away, & physically hit him -- I think "chickenshit" is fair.

If we're supposed to remain sympathetic to BD, that was over the line. If it's a heel turn, it was wildly inelegant & poorly executed. Either way, poor plan.

Maybe "Daniel Bryan" was forced to be portrayed as the humble, internet darling, babyface, nice guy, good sport, etc.

And that's why he lost.

But "Bryan Danielson" is a submission machine who will make you tap or snap, and smack Cole around for being a tool.

Yes, I would concede due to the amount of posts its "interesting", but still a mess. Of course, TNA comments were running 3 pages deep and didn't really pop them either.

I could be remembering wrong, but didn't his character come out not too long after and admit that the whole IED thing was made up?

If you think about it, it's not out of Left Field at all.

What does Daniel Bryan, and the Bret match have in common?

That's right, The Miz.

Michael Cole is a Mizfit. And as someone else pointed out to me, he always has been. When Miz first came into the company, EVERYONE ripped on him except Cole. Cole would even do the "HOO-RAH!" along with Miz.

How great would it be if Michael Cole took a year or two away from the booth and became The Miz' offical mouthpiece/beating taker? Josh Matthews could handle play by play by now, and what a fitting b-plot for the last few episodes of NXT for Matthew to take Cole's RAW gig.

I enjoyed the promo/beating of Cole as well. I don't consider it a 'chickenshit' move. I look at it as someone pushed too far by someone who went out of his way to criticize/put down the guy that he just snapped.

There were some episodes of NXT where Cole keep going off about Daniel Bryan when he wasn't even involved in the match going on in the ring at the time. There were times that even Josh Matthews was telling Cole he was going to far, or that he was 'obsessed' with Daniel Bryan.

It really was an 'I've had enough of this shit' moment for Bryan where he just snapped. It made sense to me, he was getting back at Cole with the verbal bitching ('poor man's JR') and when he saw Cole do nothing but back off (which made sense for Cole because he was scared shitless by this 'lunatic') and Bryan finally snapped at that point, he just let his emotions get the better of him.

That's how I see it character wise. It happens to the best of us where we get a little too carried away. NO we don't all resort to violance but this is a show where conflicts are resolved with violence so it's the next logical step.

It was a slap and a half-hearted arm in guillotine, it's not like he piledrived Cole onto a chair. Not quite a heel turn beating, not even in the PG version of Titanland.
