We've got all the rookies lined up ringside to start us off. Matt Striker, our host, is with them, and he asks for a round of applause for the Rookies going over the Pros last night on RAW, with Daniel Bryan rolling up Santino.

Striker goes over to Tarver and they roll the video from last week, with Tarver suggesting that he, himself, should be the one eliminated. Striker explains that management doesn't want anyone around who doesn't believe in himself -- so Tarver's gone. Tarver heads up the ramp and spends some time yelling at the audience -- "This is MY show" -- before vanishing backstage.

Striker goes over to Bryan. Bryan, of course, also offered himself up for elimination last week -- so Bryan is ALSO eliminated. Up the ramp he goes, abashed smirk and all.

Now, here's the SWERVE -- both of those eliminations were MANAGEMENT DECISIONS, not based on the Pros' evaluations -- which means that we're going to have the Pros Poll at the end of the night and there will be a THIRD elimination!

Wade Barrett vs. Heath Slater: Barrett owns the match until Slater escapes from a finisher attempt and goes on the offensive with a jumping neckbreaker. Slater -- too cocky, of course -- goes up top for a crossbody attempt but gets caught. Barrett succeeds in hitting the Fireman Slam for the pin.

Backstage, Striker interviews Tarver. Tarver says the decision was fair -- but the contest was NOT. Tarver says you can't help but notice him. Striker asks him what's next, but Tarver glares at him and walks off. Striker wishes him the best of luck in his future endeavors.

Skip Sheffield vs. Darren Young: William Regal is out, and I think is actually the only Pro we see tonight. Cole and Matthews can't stop talking about Bryan, by the way, with Cole seeming a little regretful about his departure. Anyway, Young can't get much going against Skip, and Skip puts Young away with the Piggyback Stunner.

Regal seems very proud of Sheffield.

Striker backstage again, this time with Bryan. Bryan says this guy "Daniel Bryan," he's a nobody (even though he took Batista "to the limit," he can't beat a single Rookie), but there's another guy who's called the best in the world, who's held championships all over the world. "Daniel Bryan" is done, but this other guy, "Bryan Danielson" -- crowd pops! -- you'll be seeing him again! Wow, the camera's really wobbly here.

David Otunga vs. Justin Gabriel: Gabriel is pretty but Otunga is big. Gabriel goes for a springboard something and Otunga knocks him off the ropes; after that Gabriel can't get back on track and Otunga pins him with a spinebuster.

Time for the Pros Poll. First, though, Striker interviews the Rookies and asks them who should be eliminated.

Darren Young says Wade Barrett.
Heath Slater says David Otunga.
Justin Gabriel says David Otunga.
Skip Sheffield says David Otunga.
A notably upset Otunga picks Heath Slater, the "One Man Hick Band."
Wade Barrett surprisingly doesn't return Young's dis -- he picks David Otunga.

Pros Poll:
#1 Wade Barrett
#2 David Otunga
#3 Justin Gabriel
#4 Heath Slater
#5 Darren Young
#6 Skip Sheffield

Sheffield is gone. He says he's been misguided this entire show -- it's not Regal's fault, Regal steered him right and Skip should've listened. We haven't seen the real Skip Sheffield, and he'll be back.

(After the Regal/Sheffield mutual admiration thing tonight, I wouldn't be surprised to see Skip show up as Regal's new muscle.)

And that's it. Striker says that there will be another elimination next week.

I think it's all but guaranteed that Miz is losing his US title to Danielson next week. I think they might have just played a masterstroke with him.

I think its pretty much guaranteed, WWE totally screwed up this kid's push. The argument over who is getting the better push Desmond Wolfe or Bryan Danielson as of now is pretty much over. ROH kids take note.

Glad to see Tarver being gone and surprised to see Daniel Bryan eliminated as well. I think Daniel Bryan (or Bryan Danielson) will return soon enough though.

Last night's show was premised around eliminations and 3 went home which was an interesting swerve.

As for the pros poll, Wade Barrett is the new #1 which was no surprise and it should be no different from here on in. Dave Otunga got the #2 which kinda surprised me but didn't based on he is the only guy besides Barrett that doesn't make a fool of himself on the mic.

In terms of mic work, Justin Gabriel is really bad. He is definitely fun and exciting to watch in the ring, but when put on the spot to talk about something, he simply cannot deliver (especially for his reasoning to why David Otunga should be eliminated).

Skip Sheffield being eliminated was no surprise but I just can't put my finger on it to why I was actually starting to like him (go figure).

Another thing I was pretty surprised about during the show was that Michael Cole was admiring Daniel Bryan and for so many weeks, Cole was ridiculing the hell out of him.

I am hoping that Heath Slater is the next one eliminated next week but in all honesty, I won't be too surprised to see Justin Gabriel eliminated. Like I said, the guy is good and fun to watch in the ring, but personality and good work on the mic is also weighed into the equation and as for Justin Gabriel, that may be his kryptonite.

Oh, give it a rest. Let's see who's still got a job in 18 months' time. Hell, let's see who's got a singles title in a month's time.

The shaky camera and the third-person reference suggested to me the fourth-wall scene in Fight Club. But that's a thin, scrawny connection to make (for me and for them).

Every single one of these rookies will be on either Raw or Smackdown at some point or another. As some have pointed out here, there are heels that need cronies all over the roster.

DiBiase could use Tarver

Big Show could use Danielson

Barret will serve as Jericho's protoge forever

Young may join the SES.

You get the point. As far as the Miz and Danielson...I think there's a slow burn there as I think they are going to let Bret ride off in a blaze of glory with a title win next week.

Of course they could always have Bret step down and set-up an "Open Invitational" tournament...which Danielson could tap everyone out in route to the win.

As far as NXT goes, I think Barret is clearly the guy to beat now as he is far and away the best of the rookies remaining.

That was some NXT Future Endeavor hour. Last week I said my gut said Daniel Bryan was going home, so I "called" that, I guess.

WWE eviscerating the "competition" and cutting the number of contestants in half this week and next week is the latest in the company's Reactionary Booking and Lack of Planning Ahead. That's been the trademark of NXT for all 13 weeks.

I think Tarver was right in his rant up the aisle. He was being held back by NXT's Creative. Both Tarver and Sheffield cut the best promos of their careers BECAUSE they were eliminated. Tarver seems to have much more to offer than we've seen.

Sheffield's comments about following bad advice were interesting. Whoever told him to play up the redneck "Yep yep yep wut to do" schtick really F'd him in the A. The Mad Max vest Skip Sheffield is much more interesting, and we saw him too late.

I'd sure like to see what Bryan Danielson is like in WWE. I bet Michael Cole could even be HIS biggest fan.

Barrett is now behaving like he's practically won, which he pretty much has. His only threat is Otunga because of the gimmick and who he's married to. Not that Barrett is a ring general or anything but he has promo ability equal to or better than Otunga, and he wrestles better than Otunga. Gabriel is the best wrestler of the remaining five, and arguably Slater is a notch below, but no one wants to hear either of those guys cut a promo.

As the guy who coined "One Bland Rock Band", I'm cleverer than David Otunga's "One Man Hick Band" but his is an apt description.

It seems like it will come down to Barrett and Otunga as the final two. (Barrett is smart enough to see that which is why he said Otunga should be cut and ignored Darren Young.)

I did like everyone picking Otunga to be eliminated next and calling him a joke. The real joke is the "NXT competition".

Gabriel is so fucked because he can't talk. I'd bet on him being eliminated but I think it will be Darren Young. Unless there's another curveball and there's more than one elimination again.

If Daniel Bryan hadn't mentioned Bryan Danielson's name on NXT he could have turned up as if he'd never been on WWE television before, then Cole could feign ignorance and say he's always been a fan of this guy in the indies.

Darren Young can't join the SES because to lose his hair would be to look far too much like John Cena in blackface. Which is all very fine and well to talk about on the internet, but probably less acceptable when Vince passes Young in the hallway of a Pay Per View and parodies Silvio Berlusconi by saying how well-tanned Cena is looking.

Yes because Wolfe isn't getting a push he'll be out of a job soon please. No matter what the WWE does with Danielson even if they end up doing little with him you'll defend it. You need to stop being so defensive when people criticize The WWE.

I thought the pros and fans were the ones that could eliminate the rooks? Now it's management too? They've made up rules as they've gone along. The first few weeks of the show were really good but man has this show gone down the toilet since. No stupid challenges this week at least.

The fans were never part of the elimination process. Once they announced the Pros Poll and the concept of eliminations (which didn't happen until week 6), it was always going to be determined by the Pros voting. Until this week when WWE Management chucked out Tarver and Danielson Bryanson. Then the Pros cut Sheffield. Next week, who knows? Maybe the Pros can now eliminate each other too.

I really don't understand all of the hate on management being able to boot people. What exactly is the complaint? Yeah, they only advertised the pro's being able to eliminate people, but that does not mean it is the only way they can be booted off the show. What if "reality" shows were actually held to that insane standard? "We know he went on a shooting spree on that camera crew, but we can't get him out of the house until after the tribal council."

Tarver and Bryan were booted for the same reason, and one that makes perfect sense from a management point of view.

"Who should be fired?"

"Me."

"Oh, thanks. GTFO."

The WWE rarely ever books in a formulaic way that satisfies all normal tenants of wrestling logic 101. No matter how often WE (especially me) criticize or fantasy book an outcome to a storyline, the WWE prides itself on the "anything can happen" mentality, and makes bank on it.

As far as Daniel Bryanson vs Desmond Mcwolfness is concerned, both are pretty blessed to be performing in the NO. 1 and 2 Wrestling/Entertainment orgs in the US. As far as pushes go, Daniel Bryan was brought in low and seems to be going up, while Wolf was brought in high and seems to have been moving down. I think its far to early to tell "who made the right choice" (even though I believe BOTH wanted to go to WWE, but WWE passed on Wolf for health reasons [correct me if i'm wrong]).

As far as exposure goes, both are presumably about the same when they are limited to shows like NXT and Impact, but Bryan has performed on Raw a few times, so I'd wager he is the bigger name.

Basically, the idea that there is a clear cut winner is way early. (Three years ago someone would have said definitively that Samoa Joe made the better choice than CM Punk, and since then Punk has a) won major titles, and b) been allowed to be himself.) But if Bryan and Desmond both got cut tomorrow, Bryan would be the bigger star for going on small-I indies.

Read my comments on The Impact threads I'm as critical as anyone of the TNA product. Russo and Hogan are disgraces. TNA has tremendous talent but it's pissed away because of the clowns that run the place and the no talent clowns like Terry who they're pushing or The Band being pushed while MCMG get little airtime and Wolfe being a jobber. Don't get me started on how Russo has booked Joe since '06.
