This just in - Floyd Mayweather is pretty good.

Mayweather by UD: 119-109 (twice) and 118-110.

I thought Shane was going to pull it out during the second when he had Mayweather reeling, but even before the end of the round you could see Floyd had got his composure back. Rounds 3-5 really broke Shane's sprirt a bit I think, with Floyd catching him repeatedly on the counter and Shane struggling to land anything of note. By the eighth it was really only a matter of whether Mosley was going to be able to go the distance which he managed, thanks in part to Mayweather appearing to take his foot off the gas in the last couple rounds.

Things got a bit tetchy in (from memory) round 8 when Shane took umbrage at Floyd taking a couple of shots in the middle of their "discussing" the referee's decision to pull them apart, but other than that there was just a whole lotta mutual respect going on in there which was kinda nice to see.

I had high hopes for this fight and it didn't disappoint. Now I need to go back and watch me the undercard....(hey, I had to drag my carcass out of bed at half four in the morning just to see the main event, gimme a break!)

That second round was the worst thing to happen to Shane, but it REALLY gives me hope that Pacquiao can stun Floyd and that their fight will be more competitive. Floyd is just too dang fast and I hope they make that fight soon before Floyd hits the Roy Jones "I'm only 97% as fast as I used to be wall and suddenly I can't dodge as much."

I had high hopes for this fight and it didn't disappoint. Now I need to go back and watch me the undercard....

The first fight was about 90 seconds long and featured both dudes hitting the deck. And what if I told you a 19-year old Mexican who has 32 pro fights (and claims he really has 45) and looks like Opie Cunningham and is a welterweight might be the Next Big Thing? Because Saul Alvarez was pretty impressive.
