I guess, technically speaking, that there is still a possibility this could happen.
Yes. It's possible in hockey. Won't happen here probably, but it's not out of the realm of possibility, and would make the Sharks a historically laughable team. It'd be like a reverse Boston/Yankees series, only the team that usually wins would prevail.
San Jose had won a lot of playoff games against the Wings though. Sheesh.

Wings still took a lot of stupid penalties and didn't even win the faceoff battle, but it was over 12 minutes in anyway. And, by the way, thanks Douglas Murray! | Psycho Penguin

Not that stories really MATTER of course, but they do tend to make finals more interesting especially nowadays with a lack of east/west rivalries in the NHL. | Loosie

It is interesting to point out that there are only two team left that are playing for thier first ever cup, and they are both in the West. A Montreal/Boston conference final would be awesome. And an original 6 or all Canadian final would also be awesome. I do like seeing 'first time champions' so seeing San Jose or Vancouver win it would be pretty cool. | redsoxnation

If it was the Super Bowl, I'd agree. When the 2006 Cup Finals gets less ratings than minor NASCAR events (and is one of the better ones in years), you take all the help you can get if you're the NHL. | El Nastio

The Habs making an improbable run to try and get their 25th Stanley Cup.
The Blackhawks and Bruins have a drought to stop.
The Sharks want a Cup win to loss off the choker label.
The Pens want to repeat.
There's a Canucks goalie who is seeking validation.
And some decent potential match ups;
Habs vs Blackhawks: Original Six, Montreal gunning for their 25th Cup while the Hawks seek to break the drought.
Canucks vs Habs: Duh.
Bruins vs Blackhawks: Original Six yet again, and both teams are looking to break the drought.
Sharks vs Habs: A team no one expected to be there against a team looking to shed their choker label.
Pens vs Blackhawks: A solid series showcasing some of the game's best young players.
Pens vs Sharks: Can the Sharks get over the hump and beat the defending champs?
Yeah, no potential Cup stories at all /sarcasm.
Game 7 tomorrow night. May the best team win.

| #39 Posted on 12.5.10 1000.33 Reposted on: 12.5.17 1000.41 | Being in Calgary, I suppose I should be celebrating that the Canucks were eliminated in convincing fashion last night, but it would have been a nice story for the city if they made a run right after a successful job in hosting the Winter Olympics.
The Canucks remind me of the Senators from about ten years ago - no shortage of talent, but missing something key in terms of leadership/heart.
The Sharks/Hawks series promises to be fast and fun.
Looking forward to a big Pens/Habs matchup tonight! Game 7 - anything can happen. | JustinShapiro

I didn't think Montreal could win 4 times by playing in a shell and hoping to counterpunch but in the last 2 games they were on the aggressive and Pens couldn't match their intensity. Congratulations to all the Montreal players who read this board. |
