Seriously dude, pull the grades up, you never want to be under 80 if you can help it. And if you ever need help, you have an intellectual repository of the highest order in the brilliant minds of Wienerville. Just don't ask about relationships, as that tends to get hairy ;) | MoeGates

To heck with Lakehead, how about UCCB or MUN?
As for the original question of whether a 74% is any good, if you think there is any chance you could possibly do better, then do so. None of this ``it's 24% above failing'' because that's likely to give way to ``it's X% below the admissions standard of the school I really want to go to.'' As I recall, assuming you're reasonably well-rounded, 75% would probably get you in at quite a few schools in Canada (even some of the good ones). If you bring yourself up to 80% (or perhaps even 85%), you'll be picking the school instead of your marks picking it for you. They might even throw money at you.
If you do better, you stand a much better chance of dictating your own destiny. Believe me when I tell you that this is what you will want to do. | evilwaldo

A = 4 B = 3 C = 2 D = 1 E/F = 0
add them up and divide by the # of classes
you had 7 classes and your grades added up to a 15
so you had a C average 2.14... | WyldeWolf1

One hope for you is that with that PSAT score, you may qualify as a National Merit Finalist (if they award that outside of the US). That can open a lot of doors to universities, but you'll want to be closer to 3.0 at that. | dunkndollaz

Honestly man, if you want a better average, get into AP classes, you get college credit and the plus 10 point ensures a B even if you slack.

I got into UF w/o paying a dime because, along with a some journalism scholarships I won, I won a N.M.Scholarship with my PSAT score.
But Freeway, a GPA of 2.0 or in the vicinity will kill your chances at something like that. Also, a lot of colleges won't be impressed if you give your GPA a boost by taking PE and drama classes. UF I know has their own list of classes they use to calculate GPA to prevent something like that from happening.
EDIT: one other thing, the NMS doesn't use your score like that to determine finalists. You take your three scores (writing, math, verbal each on a scale of 80) and add them together.

My National Merit scholarship was lame. I got $500 renewable from U.C. Davis, which I turned down to go to U.C. San Diego.
I think CRZ got a better deal with his at U.C. Riverside. |
