I'm considering getting one, seeing as how I mostly watch TV and Movies on my computer all ready via. *cough* KaZaA *cough*.
And the other day going through a Computercenter to buy a new Optical Mouse (for no particular reason), I saw a DVD-Rom drive for about $100.00 Canadian (I'd say about... $60-$70 US Dollars).
Now, should I actually expect to be able to watch DVD movies with little to no problems/glitches/skipping/etc.?
Would a DVD-Rom actually WORK on my computer?
Druon 750 MHz 320 RAM 64 meg Voodoo 5 video card (I guess that's about all that's important, right?)
Anyway... so, what do you all think? Will that $100.00 investment be one of the crowning achievements of my life? Or would it be a dismal failure?

With that kind of spec you should be able to software render without much trouble at all. What make was the particular drive you were looking at? It might be worth trawling through the forums at the manufacturers website, I know there are a few things about my creative drive (and lack of XP support) I wished I'd known about before hand. | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
