We have a guy at work who ran into Lita, Hardyz, and Brock Lesnar at Applebees after a house show this Spring. He got one of them to autograph his ticket stub and points to it and brags whenever somebody he knows is into wrestling walks by. He has yet to figure out that he's the only one who cares. Lesnar apparently gave him a lot of crap because he had an Iowa Hawkeye cap on (in good fun, of course.) Some little girl was just WORSHIPING Lita the whole evening. They all thought it was really cute.

I myself while working at a record store sold Curt Henning a used cassette tape when he was in town for an AWA show just before his debut as "Mr. Perfect" in the WWF many years ago. He and another wrestler who I couldn't name today to save my ass spent about ten minutes browsing in the store. The owner and I just watched them and didn't say a thing the whole time except for ringing up the total and thanking them. They kept looking at US like THEY were nervous about something. When they left, we noted to each other how Henning "doesn't look that short on TV."

The record store was in an old (even then) shopping mall and we saw the wrestlers wander, smile at (dare I say SNEER at), and comment on high school girls passing by for awhile. Occasionally some of the girls we knew would come into the store and ask "Who are those two WEIRDOS?!?"

It was a memorable afternoon.

I was at a house show and high-fived RVD. I marked out like a kid. It was great.

My buddy Rex has a photo of him and Vince outside a hotel lobby.

Been photographed with (this was all at Pillman 2001)
Raven
Justin Credible
William Regal
Edge & Christian
DDP (who was one of the nicest guys in the bunch & I made him crack up by asking him "got cookies?", in reference to the notorious Austin/Foley rib made famous in "Have A Nice Day")

Didn't have my picture taken with him, but during said photo session at Pillman, turned around and found myself face to face with Dean Malenko, so gotta count that as well.
Then, later in the evening, when I went over to pay for an item I'd won at auction & was waiting in line, near the entrance to the locker room area, saw Missy Hyatt talking to a small group of people.

Last time WCW did Nitro from my hometown (7/3/2000), Chavo Guerrero & Chuck Palumbo autographed my ticket stubs and were both really nice guys.

David Flair walked right past me with Stacy in tow; it seemed like she wanted to stop and talk to people, sign stuff, etc., but he dragged her on upstairs to the VIP room (this was at a restaurant/bar across from the arena where a lot of the guys went, post-show).

Big Vito showed up later in the evening, after spending time at the local hospital to check on Johnny The Bull, who was seriously injured during a hardcore match with Terry Funk. Also saw Terry "Red Rooster" Taylor leaving the VIP room later in the evening.

Shawn Stasiak was also there & he pretty much blew off anyone who asked for his signature, although I saw him signing one or two ticket stubs.

My best friend & her husband attended WM X-7 and SummerSlam last year and attended meet & greet events prior to each event, so they've met and have photos of themselves with a whole bunch of people, including Big Show. (I'd try and list 'em all, but would probably leave out someone.)

I've met Chris Benoit, Perry Saturn and I've shook hands with Rick Martel. His nephew's the booker at the local fed I work at, so once in a blue moon he drops by to say hello.

Flying to and from school so often, I've seen Teddy Long and Ron Simmons twice riding in the same subway car as I did in the Atlanta airport Monday mornings.

It's weird seeing them in street clothes, kind of staring off into space and waiting for their stop, so I always just leave them alone.

Well there is the story of the hotel room, Me, Lilian and Trish and a bucket of butterscotch icecream... oh wait you want real stories, oh well

I long time ago I saw Alundra Blaze and Bob Backland leaving the arena getting into their rental car in a real snowy day. Backland cut a promo on everyone telling them to stay away from his car, I still don't know if he was playing is bitter old man gimmick or if it was legit.

I don't usually go to autograph signings but I did see Trish in person, and actually she looks as good or better then she does on Tv. I also Val and Jericho.

LOL @ Astoriod boy story, you should have gone to ECW shows RVD would highfive EVERYONE, the reason he took 25 minutes to get in the ring...LOL

Two chance encounters:

I saw Sean O'Haire with some cute girl looking at nightgowns in the mall near Bellagio in Las Vegas. It was right before some PPV that I can't remember and am too lazy to look up (Sin? Greed?). My image of him was altered a bit from this encounter, since I am 6'5 and he was shorter than me (unless he was hunching down really badly). When he first came up in wCw, I thought of him as the rare big man that did top rope moves. Now he's just 'sorta big'.

I saw Helms at a Chevys in Del Mar CA a few days after Vengeance (in San Diego). I had just gotten back from a hot air baloon ride my girlfriend had taken me on for my birthday, which ended in a spectacular crash and drag landing. It turns out that they have no breaks and you basically crash to land.
Anyway, I was still a bit dazed when they dropped us off at the resturaunt and I saw Helms sitting at a table with two fat girls. He had another guy with him who was probably a wrestler but I couldn't make him out. I know I would hate it if people interrupted my business all the time if I was famous, so I tend to leave celeb types alone. However, I was so surprised I said "Hi Shane" and nodded at him. He looked up and I think he was trying to figure out if he knew me, while giving a big metal smile. That boy has some serious braces.
The other interesting thing is that he was in great shape and had some decent muscle mass for his size, and yet he looks tiny compared to the competition. Television really distorts things.

Cyrus came into the restaurant I work at. After he was done being a "Big Shot" complete with Unnecessary Big Shot Attitude, he went to pay. When he got to the counter, the 5'2, 90lbs girl working (who didn't know, or care, who he was) startled him so much by being openly sick of his attitude that he dropped his change all over the counter. When he tried to apologize and pick it up, she just did one of those "ungh" sighs and walked away.

After he left, me and the rest of the customers had a decent laugh. A good time was had by all (except Cyrus)

When I was younger I stood side by side with Andre. Coolest thing I had ever done. I felt bad for him because when he left the ring people kept throwing drinks at him.

This was also the same show where I talked to the Hart Foundation at the corner store.

Coolest (wrestling)day of my life.

Several years ago, about a month before he debuted in the WWF, Chris Jericho came "home" to do a radio show, and I went down to the restaurant it was being held at. During one of the commercials, I went up to him and shook his hand, and took a picture of him with my sister. I was surprised at just how short he was, but also how huge his arms were.. and he was injured at the time, too, but he still had absolutely massive arms when he flexed. He was really nice though!

And of course, about 3 house shows ago I got seats right along the aisle where the wrestlers came out. So I got close to half the roster that night. And while it wasn't really getting close to a wrestler, after winning her match at the last house show here, Trish leaned over the ropes and pointed right at me. Yeah, she pointed at me! Not anyone else nearby. Me me me! She likes me. She does.

First off, I live near Altanta, and about half a mile behind my house is a river, across the river is the one of the richest neighborhoods in Atlanta, Country Club of the South where a lot of wrestlers live. Anyway, I've met a ton of wrestlers.
Sorry this is long, if you want to see my coolest meeting with a wrestler look on the very bottom of the page.
Lex Luger: When I was 12ish I took karate lessons and golf
lessons with his son, he came to karate stuff and golf a lot, I can always say that on the golf course near my house I was on the driving range next to the Total Package.
Randy Savage: I was at the local gas station when a pimped out SUV drove buy, my job dropped as it drove by me and Macho Man was driving it.
Bryan Clark: After a high school football game I was late getting out of the fieldhouse,(I played football) so my friends and I went to the bowling alley. Someone asked me if I saw the wrestler yet and I said no, and they pointed down a couple lanes and there was Bryan Clark. Dear lord he is HUGE! The towered above me and I am 6'2, and his arms were ripped. I noticed his name on the bowling screen was Bryan, and my friend and I talked to his girlfriend for a second before he came over and talked to us. He was nice and signed autographs and answered questions. The coolest part was me having a brain fart and asking him if Raven used to manage him when he was Adam Bomb, and Bryan laughing and saying, unfortunately!
Royal Rumble 02': Before the show I met Chris Kanyon and talked to him for a while, he took pictures and autographed stuff for free, he was one hell of a guy. Plus, now I have Wrath and Mortis's autographs! In fact, at the Rumble and at Raw 3 weeks ago, Kanyon went out of his way before and after the show to talk and autograph stuff, awesome awesome guy. I also met Teddy Long before the show. After the show we went to the Wrestler's parking lot, some guys were dicks, and some were cool. Stone Cold was the funniest as his rental car was a POS but he kept revving the engine, doing the beer drinking motion and flipping us off while peeling out, he kept driving back and forth, getting out on top of his car yelling what, doing the wrist watch thing and the drinking motion + double flip off. After the show though, I talked to Maven and Al Snow, got a high five and thumbs up from Shane O' Mac.
Raw in Atl 3 weeks ago: Met a ton of people here, I saw the Boss Man in his truck, met Terri in the food court (I hate to say but she looked fine when I talked to her in person), talked to Arn Anderson in the hotel lobby near the arena, got a high five from the King after the show, and I was on the ramp so I was next to all the wrestlers. Coach gave me a little nod and finger point after Heat, and Stasiak stared right at my friend and I. Also, when the NWO left after beating Booker down, a guy stood on his chair and called Nash a pussy and flipped him off, Nash said back "I'm that tall without the chair you little bitch!"

Anyway, my biggest mark out moment ever.... I'm with my friends before Raw 3 weeks ago in Atlanta, crossing the street from the MARTA (Atlanta's transportation system) station to the CNN center. (big ass mall type thing next to the arena) As we walk across the street, we see a guy waiting to cross the street with his back to us who isn't tall, but is THICK and has a ponytail. He turns towards and its RVD!!!! I was flipping out along with everyone else as he walked past us and said what's up. My friend yelled, "Hey Rob, wait up!" He walked back towards the wrestlers parking lot with us, talked for a while, signed autographs, signed the RVD foam fingers we had, took pictures and was a cool guy. When he finally said he had to go I asked "Got anything special for us tonight Rob?" And he laughed and replied, "I do something special every night!" It was awesome.

I high-fived Tito Santana. My mom told him "good luck" and he thanked her, complete with matador bow.

I also met freakin' VIRGIL in a parking lot at Thunder. I saw the entire Flock about five yards from me.

Last, but certainly not least, I heard Ted Dibiase preach at a local church. He was da bomb.

At a house show about a year ago, I had front row tickets. Kane was fighting Kurt Angle and threw him into the barricade in front of me. I reached foward and rubbed his head. He gave me a strange look as he turned around to go after Kane.

At a little indy show, I got to pat Terry Funk on the back while he and Dusty Rhodes were bringing their hardcore match into the crowd.

My dad, brothers and I stopped at a Japanese restaurant on the way home from WM1 at MSG, and halfway through the meal, Windham and Rotundo sat down at the table next to us. We greeted them, sympatized for their titles being lost to Sheik and Volkoff, and left them alone. I thought of asking (I forget which one caught the Blassie cane to the head) how he was doing, but they were definitely giving out the "leave me the hell alone" vibe.

Also, a few years ago in a NC Walmart, I walking into the store with my wife to find Ivan Korloff sitting their, autographing pics for charity. He looked bored, and I marked out to my wife. She gave the "holy crap, I don't know this guy with me" look as I went up and marked out directly to the great Russian. He had no Russian accent, lest to say. I told him how I remembered this one time that Pat Patterson interviewed him after a match (back when PP did the announcing with Vince), and he slapped Pat. Ivan was like "Yeah, that was March 5th," of whatever year, and literally started yammering on and on and on about stuff, and I was like "oh man, what did I get into here". He talked for almost 10 minutes with no interruption (meanwhile, NO ONE was coming up for autographs, because no one probably knew who he was). As soon as he took a breath, I shook his hand and told him it was nice meeting him, and took off while he called after me "Hey, did you want to buy a picture?"

* 1991: Slapped Hogan on the arm during his entrance at a WWF house show in Green Bay.

* 1998: Shot an interview and promo with The Rock at another Green Bay WWF house show. Surprisingly cool dude.

* 2000: ECW on TNN taping in Milwaukee. Tommy Dreamer vs. Justin Credible goes out in the crowd, catching me on TV. Dreamer picks up a trash can...that somebody vomited in...to hit Credible with. Vomit gets sprayed on me. THIS...IS...EXTREME!

(Wow...I guess that last one was kinda foreshadowing his Tom Green gimmick in WWE, huh?)

* 2000-2002: And then there's roving ringside camera for all the indy TV tapings...biggest names to come through ACW were Simon Diamond, Jerry Lynn, King Kong Bundy and Road Dogg. Although a couple of our guys did work Jakked/Metal tapings and other WWF TV...

I live in the same neighborhood as Bret Hart. I was taking my boy and our dog to my son's pre-schooler "bring your pet" day. Bret was walking by in the hall and asked what kind of dog it was, because it's an absolutely huge dog (it's a 150 pound Irish Wolfhound).
