As a Packers fan, I'm sorry to see Kampman go even though he didn't really work out in the 3-4 defense. If he's fully recovered, I expect him to have a big season in Jax.

Agreed. I wish him the best, but I'm not at all sad that we didn't re-sign him. And I'm very happy that he signed out of conference.

I'm interested to see the terms of the contract. At first glance, this is a very un-Gene Smith-like signing: Aging veteran with declining production coming off a serious injury. I guess this goes to show how desperate the Jags are for pass-rush help, which they should be. It was their achilles heel last season for sure.

I don't mean this to sound like I'm speaking ill of Kampman, but rather, that the Jaguars M.O since Smith took over was to only sign veteran FA's to plug holes in the short-term, and to not break the bank in doing so (see Torry Holt and Tra Thomas last year). I'll wait to see the years and dollar amount before I say anymore, I guess.

I really hope the Ted Thompson haters aren't railing on him for letting Kampman go, sure, he was a great guy, but he didnt fit with what we were doing...I hope Kampman rebounds nicely this next year, he will always have my respect.

Aaron Kampman is the definition of what Mike McCarthy once called "Packer people." A class human being in every way.

We're gonna miss the man more than the player. A terrific defensive end in a 4-3, but a fish out of water in a 3-4.

It's just sad to see a fella of his caliber go, but it's for the best. He'll be welcomed back here with open arms any time after his career ends, guaranteed.

In a very classy move, Kampman took out an ad in the Journal-Sentinel thanking the Packers and fans for their support.
